Erdinger's got an unusual take- a stronger, maltier hefeweizen brewed for the season. Both of the words Oktoberfest and Hefeweizen appear on the cardboard packaging, but it's not stylistically a Marzen. Not a bad beer for a change of pace.

Yeah i coudl ahve included that, it is indeed a weissbier, but so is the Schmohz, and a few of these aren't true to style, but masquerade as oktoberfests.

Doe's Avery's Kaiser count? Plus I think probably every other brewery one can think of has their own version of an Oktoberfest, so this could take awhile! New one I've tried this year was Jack's Abby Copper Legend Oktoberfest....yummy. Speaking of which, I didn't see Legend Oktoberfest on the list either.

Also remembered one... Heavy Seas Prosit!, Yeah Avery can be counted, certainly not to style.

Schlenkerla marzen. Again not to style, but delicious.

So just about every small brewery and brew pub will have an ofest.

Some maerzens are oak aged probably, anything that you get form an oak cask.

Hmm, I never realized that. That is interesting. I'll have to start paying more attention to the ones I try to see if they are or not.

Came here to say Atom Smasher. It was one of the first craft beers I had, and I still enjoy it quite a bit!

Have you seen this anywhere locally Cross? I saw it 2 years ago, but haven't seen it since. My favorite of the Wiesn style.

Oh yeah, I believe this is retired. Was brought back as the Summer Seasonal in '11, but the Weizen was Cap's '12 Summer brew.

Yep...had this last weekend w/some grilled meat and sausage and it was killer. That subtle oak influence really makes this a toasty treat and great w/food.
