Congrats on the "triple-quad"! I sure hope you knocked out whatever "honey do" tasks you had yesterday. I, for one, would not be that productive after hitting that trio.

Hmmm... it appears I'm mistaken, but I could've sworn it (or Old Stock Ale) were in larger bottles (25.4oz). Can't explain why I would've thought that, but I guess I can retract that part of my post .

Hey guys! I am happy to be joining my first NBS! Although I frequently read the thread I have never posted for one reason or another. The most likely reason being laziness. This forum seems to combine my favorite things about Beer Advocate. Discussion, enthusiasm and pictures. The beer I am having now is 14th Star Brewing Company's Tribute. (I did have one earlier today but it is a new beer to me as of today). It is a Double Imperial Pale Ale with an 8.1% ABV. I really love the 7-8% ABV pocket and this just tips it but what is .1%, right?

The first thing that hit me was the waft of hops as I opened the can. A mango sweetness, mingled with pine and spice.
Many times we describe beer as being golden but the body on this beer is truly golden. And even though it doesn't show in the picture it is clear at least in the first half of the pour. Initially it has a soapy white head but it dissipates rather quickly.

I am still trying to suss out if I love it or hate it. It has a sweetness, like candied fruit, that I don't often enjoy but it is wonderfully balanced by an interesting hop profile. Medicinal herbs, leafy, spicy, citrus rind, and a wonderful spiciness in the finish.
I am going to enjoy the rest of this and pour the second half of the can to see how it is when it temps. Cheers all!

I could be wrong too, but I've always thought the barrel aged ones were in the 500 ml bottles. No big deal either way, I know I wouldn't mind if they put it in bigger bottles! :grinning:

Nice post. Kent Falls is my favorite brewery and I loved this when I had it on tap. It certainly isn't pushing bounderies but I thought it was extremely well done. I like seeing that KF are making their way around but dissapointed that bottle selections around me are limited.(I live a county down from them) But I probably am not looking hard enough because it is always on tap. Cheers!

I spaced them out well so the alcohol is not having all that much of an effect. I can handle 3 beers that are less that 12oz and are about 10% ABV in an entire day. However, I could not drink them all together and not feel drunk.

I've never had anise that I know of, so I guess not. Damn the Westy 12 was delicious and who knows if I will ever have it again...

Nice brew before I start to make dinner. Have enjoyed everything I have had the opportunity of trying from Kent Falls.

    4.46/5 rDev +4.7%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Bottle poured into a snifter, and stemless wine glass.

Look: Straw colored, slightly hazy, foamy pure white head. The head settles and caps the glass, lasting till my last sip.

Smell: Floral notes, bit of yeast and dough, all followed by fresh hops and spice. The hops come through both citrus and earthy, lemon is the most apparent scent.

Taste: Dry, crisp, tingly followed by lemony citrus, yeast and risen dough. A bit of spice lingers on the tongue and the dry-hopping gives it a fresh citrus and grass note that brings everything together.

Feel: High carbonation, fairly effervescent, but did not gush, not unpleasant. Crisp, pin-point bubbles tickle the tongue. Fairly light bodied, refreshing

Overall: For such a refreshing and light bodied brew the flavors are quite complex. Many layers work together. This is well-made and very enjoyable. I have had many of Kent Falls options, and always look forward to enjoying their brews.

Ahhhh springtime! The sun is shining, the bass are spawning and my wife is working me like a slave. Finally attempting to reclaim our backyard from all the damage our two dogs have done. Laid some patio paver at a high traffic area where grass wouldn't take hold and re-seeding a large area. BTW: That Scott's EZ seed is awesome stuff, I've just never used it on such a large area.

Now time for a beer, this is one I've always passed by in the liquor store, it's pretty good though.

My brother gets together with a group from VT a few times a year, and they always bring plenty of beer to share. That Tribute is my favorite of the bunch- what a pleasant surprise it was the first time I popped one. I guess I'm partial to that malt character in an IPA.

Now up keeping it local with 2SP Bourbon Russian, another solid offering from the brew that is a spin off of the best pub to open in Delaware.
    4.35/5 rDev +9.8%
    look: 4.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

750 ml bottle, batch 1 bottle number 250, poured into a snifter

A- Black with a three finger dense mocha heads

S- Mild bourbon, some vanilla, charred oak, some bitter chocolate, some coffee.

T- Dark chocolate, some mild bourbon, vanilla, hints of charred oak, hints of roasted coffee, some caramel malts, touch of earthy bitterness.

    M- Smooth, creamy, full body.

O- Bourbon is mild and tastes very similar to The Russian. Is it a little high in price, yes, but it is a quality beer that I'm happy to drink. Biggest "flaw" on this beer is that the bourbon isn't a big part of this, but the base beer is not lost or muted in the bottles.
