is there a better value in the game ? 18$ for a 94 rated IPA(18$ and I think it can be found cheaper), come on you can't beat it. JA is doing what every other brewery said is impossible. They have put a highly hopped IPL/IPA in a consumer friendly format at a consumer friendly price. I really think it is only a matter of time before other breweries need to come down in price. when you find this beer fresh it is on par with every hyped beer out there and at a 40-75% discount. Unreal value. Thank you JA

Great beer at a great price for sure. I'd also add the four-packs of Excess pint cans; where else can you get a 3x beer at that price point?

I think they did a canning run this week, so they should be showing up. Price is $11 or 12

$9.99 12 packs of Smutty Finest Kind on sale @ Market Basket in NH are a great value.
So are $11.99 12 packs of Ipswich 101 every so often in MA.

$18 12 packs in a VERY crowded MA market? Maybe not, though I really do like HU.

Finest Kind 12 packs are same value. And a better beer.

Finestkind is an awful beer. No idea why anyone likes that stuff.

I can't even believe finest kind entered this talk. It is an okay beer, but with Hoponius? Come on. I get similar feels every time Night Shift is brought up in the Trill thread as a price comparison. Price, fine. The quality is so far off kilter it just doesnt make sense.

Respectfully disagree, Finest Kind & Ipswich 101 are absolutely comps for HU in the local 12-pack value IPA market here. I usually buy whatever of the 3 are cheaper and/or fresher.

Ipswich I will give. It is awesome. Smutty is just not even in the same style anymore. It is an IPA of the past. Nostalgia put aside.

Somewhat enjoyed finest kind when I was younger but always assumed it was world class based on the Bros score. Then I had and isaw their scores Hop Hands, Swish, and most Trillium beers....

You have to apply the Market Basket in NH conversion factor. They need something to get people through the door to buy lamb heads from the sawdust covered meat department. But at least you have beer, my local MB just has the sawdust and random animal parts.

In a MA liquor store, I usually find the Hoponius can 12 packs for $14.99, Smutty is usually $13 at those same stores. The stores charging $18 for Hoponius are probably charging $15 for Finestkind. You might find Smutty on sale for 11 at Julio's but then JA will be on sale too.

You know how some people talk about how it's really the multi-hour drive/line that makes Julius or Heady or whatever taste so good? It's totally true. However, I think it's ALSO true that some individuals can taste the low price and easy accessibility of beers like Finest or HU.

    We've all got our biases.

(And just to be clear, I'm not calling either group dumb or uninformed or anything like that. It's just how the mind works and we're all subject to it in one way or another.)

You have to understand that they are able to lower their prices because they just underwent a massive expansion. They are now playing the volume game which allows them to sell their beer cheaper and still make a good profit. Not every brewery is pumping out as much beer and can afford to sell beer at that price point. That being said, I love Hoponius Union and am psyched that we will be able to get it in New Hampshire at such a great price!

Let's not forget the Calyptra 12 packs. Perfect summer crushers. Great value at $15 and change.

Indeed, but a lot of breweries expand and don't pass on the savings. To their credit Jack's Abby AND Smuttynose both have done so. No need to pit them against each other right? They both Do What's Right.

Anyone who thinks that it is a long drive or wait on line that makes Julius taste good may not belong on BA.

I love Smuttynose as a brewery generally but that's pretty much my thoughts on Finest Kind as well. It's great for what it is (I enjoyed it a lot years ago) but it's just not a style of IPA I crave much these days.

Ipswich and now Hoponious are the bedrock of my everyday beer drinking though. And I can usually count on getting the former for 13.99 and the latter for 15.99.
