Did a quick search on here and didn't see anything posted in the forum. I'm stuck at O'Hare ORD over night, any suggestions for a good craft bar in the airport before I make a lot of effort to get Uber to take me to Half Acre?

    Thanks

    It's O'Hare airport.

Goose Island has locations in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 I believe, sometimes have BCBS on tap.

    Best food is Tortas Frontera.

Otherwise Ice Bar, Cubs Bar, Black Hawks Bar.

Tortas Frontera seems to have Rev Brewing options + good Mexican food. Report back.

I went to Goose Island in Terminal 1 but it was already closed at 910pm. So took the Blue Line and then Uber to Half Acre. Lots of work but worth it.

Isn't there a metra line to O'Hare? Get a weekend pass and head downtown

Have to agree on Tortas Frontera for food -- also excellent margs. Goose Island is the local micro of choice if you find it and otherwise it would be Sam Adams or if you are lucky Sierra Nevada. O'hare has some catching up to do with airports that have more (local & smaller) craft beer selection.

Just stopped at Tortas at terminal B. On tap is GI Matilda, Revolution Bottom Up Wit, Negra Modela, and Bud Light. In addition, they give no indication of it it they have bottles. As far as I know they have Pacifico, Negra Especial, a Mexican import I didn't recognize the name of, and LAGUNITAS IPA.

You can guess what I ordered.

The thread that will not die!!!

Anyone have any idea if the Goose locations inside O'Hare have BCBS on tap? Connecting thru O'Hare Thursday morning and I've got a 3 hour layover.

edit: or I suppose any idea what else is on tap around the facility.. I'll have time to burn

I fly out of O'Hare tons of times per year and have NEVER seen BCBS on tap there. It's always been the same regular lineup. Always.

I usually steer clear of GI as they have the overproduced stuff. If I get stuck, I choose Bergoff term. C or the Italian restaurant towards the high number end of term. B

Bumping the thread as I'm about to land here in Chicago and will see what's new. I'd love some half acre daisy cutter if I can find it

Granted it's been a few years ago, but I pounded a few Daisy Cutters before our flight to Prague. Didn't help me sleep. Just made for many, many bathroom trips.

I believe they have Daisy Cutter available at these new self-serve kiosks. Seems there are more than one of these kiosks around based on the following post from O'hare's FB.

Sorry, but I'm not passing on BCBS because it's "overproduced." :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, not to make this political, but while I love Bergoff the bar, the current owner "closed" the place in part so that they could let go of all their old unionized employees, and rehire younger, non-union ones. That, combined with the fact that I don't love their beer, makes them a similar pass for me.

Edit: It may not be everyone's absolute favorite, but GI's IPA is a classic, so it's always a welcome sight on a taplist at a place like O'Hare (where your beer options will be limited, but your desire to drink will not).

Got to the airport 2 hours early. Made it through security and then find out my flight has a 2 hour delay. Time to walk around and post an update to this thread.

    Concourse C

    Bergoff near Gate C26

    Bergoff beers: Lager, IPA, Oktoberfest
    Bud Light
    Stella

    Goose Island near C11

Matilda, 312, Green Line IPA, Bud Light

Not too impressed. Let's check out Concourse B.

    Concourse B

    Tuscany Cafe near Gate B16

Bud Light, Shock Top, Goose Green Line IPA, Goose Honkers Ale, Sam Adams, Stella

    Chili's near Gate B14

Goose Island 312, Stella, Sam Adams, Bud Light

The Tortas Fronteras by Rick Bayless near B14 looked really, really good if you're hungry.

La Tapenade Mediterranean Cafe near Gate B4

Goose Islsnd 312, Sam Adams Oktoberfest, Goose Island Green Line IPA, Stella, Bud Light, shock Top

    Moving on to Concourse E

    Concourse E

Only option here is Stanley's Kitchen &Tap near Gate E5.

Goose Island Green Line IPA, Shock Top, Goode Island 312, Bud Light. Pub style food and set up. Sports theme (tribute bar to Blackhawks and Stanley Cup)

    Concourse G

Cubs Bar near G2. Bud, Bud Light, Goose Island Green Line IPA

At this point I walked around the rest of the concourses and saw only the same. AB runs this airport. Sorry visitors. The only hope I saw was one of those new CONNECT Pour Your Own Draft machines. It was promising as it had Fist City Pale Ale, Half Acre Daisy Cutter and Lagunitas IPA. Unfortunately it wasn't working. Back to Concourse B where I drank my weight in mimosas at Beaudevin. It was late morning on Sunday.

O'Hare will probably blow until the Publican's O'Hare offshoot opens.

Ah, nicely done. I would also expect that many of the dated food courts options at Midway and O'Hare will probably get replaced in the next few years by more modern, hip options. If the success of Revival Food Hall in the Loop is any indicator of what people want, our airports better start catching up.
