SN pale ale. Cheap, available everywhere, great flavor and easy drinking. It's a classic for a reason.

Please define 'low cost'. A $10 sixer might be low cost to some people, especially those who buy $10+ bombers regularly.

If you are looking for something priced in line with Yuengling, I don't have any suggestions as it's less than $20 a case around here, probably similar in NJ.

Genesee Cream Ale. I just bought a 6 pack for $2.79. I giggled all the way to the register.

If you like it, why replace it? Yuengling Summer Wheat is very good for a nice Yuengy-price.

For a NJ beer I always give a shout out to Beach Haus Pilsner.

I discovered DAB last year and I also think it's really good, very overlooked, and a price that's tough to beat. Another nice imported pilsner that won't break the bank is Staropramen - a Czech pils that I would take over Pilsner Urquell.

Randy, are you able to locate this beer in fresh condition?

    Cheers!

Aside from All day IPA, my vote goes for Yuengling Summer Wheat.

Yes, or I wouldn't have bought it. Sometime in February or March my local distributor had Staropramen bottles 24 cases and 12-packs about 3 months from bottling...pretty fresh for crossing an ocean. Also the case/12-pack boxes are completely enclosed, so there is no UV exposure (no skunking).

Bell's Oatsmobile has my vote, though I know not whether it is available to you, nor whether it is going to be a full-time addition to the Bell's line-up.

Yup, that is quite fresh for an imported beer!!

I will have to keep my eyes open for that beer. I have had Staropramen in the past (the distant past) but that was before I became an astute beer buyer and searched for dates. I was not a fan of those Staropramen beers but that is likely because they were old?

    Cheers!

Possibly... fresher certainly can't hurt! I don't know the IBUs or gravity but to my tastes Staropramen is more bitter and drier than PU, with some some mild toastiness, for whatever that's worth.

Most of the beers from Saranac will fit the bill.

Dortmunder Acton Brauerie (?) I think. It's a German beer in the Dortmunder Export style, with a really nice balance of hop and malt character. Way better than Stella or Heineken, but in the same price range.

Sierra Nevada Nooner 12 pack cans are on sale here a lot. I occasionally pick up a 12 pack of SA Boston lager, same deal. I think both have a nice flavor and are pretty low abv.
