I don't even live in New England. Who are you talking to?

How many times does it need to be said that 'New England IPA' isn't defined by 'cloudy'? It has a lot more to do with low bitterness because of very late hop additions, insane amounts of dry hopping and Conan/London Ale III yeast.

Completely agree but add Finback to that list as well!

if you jumped on thats your own fault. i dont remember midwest beers being hyped up. which beers are u even talking about bc nobody here knows what you are talking about. trade value? like what? hopslam maaaaybe? and that beer is widely available. giving you the benefit of the doubt tho...even if what u say is true, midwesterners never act like they reinvented the wheel...unlike you NE fanboys. so maybe ur all butthurt about something in your past, bc clearly you are the one that cant let it go.

I don't drink them, but by the way things look on here, it's clearly Tree House (correct spelling) and Trillium

TG is definitely my favorite. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who loves light speed it doesn't really get any love.

A better thread might be "Who's making the best widely distributed IPAs?" Obviously, if you live in New England, you're going to say Trillium/Treehouse/HF..which leads to jealous reactions/trolling.

Haha yeah maybe. The reason I brought it up was it seemed like a new brewery was popping up every couple months or so (at least on my radar) and it looked like they had some promising beers. I wasn't sure what was simply hype from locals and what was worth trading for.

    Why are you so angry?

Perennial, 3 Floyds, Toppling Goliath, Surly ring any bells for you? Are you trying to claim Zombie Dust and PseudoSue weren't crazy trade bait way before Tree House even canned their first beer?

The only thing I take away from this thread is that CaveDave is believed to have invented the NE IPA style, but vehemently refuses to take credit for doing so.

From the Department of Redundancy Department - Treehouse and Trillium are great, but Singlecut definitely deserves some love.

nobody is angry here. just pointing out ignorance. and a few rare short supply trade bait beers is a far from cry from the nonexistent described culture in the distant past (2 of the breweries u mentioned stared in 09 and 11, not really what he was talking about) apparently when midwesterners were so full of themselves, arrogant and on their high horses about their culture of "overhyped" IPAs. it was just a nonsense defensive comment.

I know it's already been said a million times but I think that Treehouse makes the best IPAs hands down. That brewery is just so much WOW.

The brewery's home is in downtown Athens. Good beer there and fabulous restaurants within an easy walking distance. I love living in Athens!

Most of my IPA money as of late goes to Maryland locals such as:

    Manor Hill
    Union

To me the last batch of Lightspeed I tried was like the way Pseudo used to be when I first had it (and before they decided to brew most of it in Florida) its got some haze and tons of fruity juiciness to it. The less love (or hype) there is for it, the more there should be available for folks like us!
