The first ba murderous in 12 oz bottles was Elijah Craig barrels. Not sure what year they were released.

Yes 12 oz bottles in 2013 was the first bottle release of BA Murderous. Batch 107. Elijah Craig barrels as well. From their website

Either way I'm sure it will be delicious. Game of jones is one of my favorite pipeworks beers

Jones Dog has been released in the past. It's been the base beer for BA Jones Dog after all. It's possible they've just not released the non-BA JD for some time and only brewed it for the BA version the last couple years. From their site it appears the non-BA hasn't been released in bottles since 2013. Seems both JD and GoJ are with cacao nibs & vanilla beans but from their site JD appears to have slightly different malts than GoJ. The ABVs are different as well. If you like GoJ it's a pretty safe bet you'll enjoy JD. Cheers.

Im assuming that, like End of Days and Imperial End of Days, Jones Dog and Imperial Jones Dog will be different beers.

Yeah it's possible. Their website says JD is 10.5% although I can only find past JD labels with 8.5% (also older versions with 6.5 before then). I can't see a beer being more imperial than 10.5%.

Fobab 2013 was The Murderous Elijah Craig. ba jones dog and the murderous subsequently released in 12 oz bottles. first ba release. also BA last kiss.

IIRC, 2012 Fobab was Oak aged abduction with cherries and another beer but i don't think it was a barleywine.

Finally got my hands on a basslet tonight. Also picked up another EG for good measure. Can't wait for this weekend!

yes and no... Jones Dog was brewed at 6.5% and 8.5%? way back when. Imperial Jones has never been released under that name. Game of Jones is Imperial Jones Dog. Sorry for the confusion. Internally we refer to it as Imperial Jones as well hence it accidentally making it into the e-mail that way. But for the record Imperial Jones = Game of Jones.

Hey everyone! I'm new to the Chicago area and have recently discovered Pipeworks. It's great stuff!

    Couple of questions:

    (1) There seems to be so many different SKUs and releases, is there a release calendar? Are there seasonals? How do you know what's coming next or when to expect the one you liked?
    (2) Besides the bombers, are there places where I can purchase single 16oz cans so that I can sample a variety?

    Thanks!

There is no release calendar, but if you sign up for their e-mail updates on their website, you'll find out what's coming out each week, as well as what's on the horizon.

As far as purchasing single cans, not many places around here do that. I have heard that Bottles & Cans will allow you to break up packs, but I've never done it or inquired about it. Personally, I'd recommend you just buy the 4 pack!

The Open Bottle in Tinley Park will let you buy single cans as a suburban option

I've seen singles in the mix rack at Binnys, but you have to buy a whole mixed 6. If you are really set on just trying one can, you can always check Beer Menus for places that have the cans. But really, I'll echo @croush - just buy a 4-pack. You won't be disappointed.

Kind of off-topic, but Archer Liquor has one of the better bottle store websites I've seen.

It is relatively easy, especially at Binny's. There's a fresh batch that came out this week so check the bottom of the cans for canning dates.

Yes. Where are you staying in Chicago? We can point you to the closest place to pick some up.
