Checked out Something Brewing yesterday with their Groupon. It's not a bad spot, comfortable enough inside. It looks like they eventually plan on doing some outdoor seating, though there appears to be very little room out there.

About half of their beers were listed as "Tea Infused". It looks like they use tea to impart some flavor into the beers instead of using the actual ingredients. For instance instead of actually using vanilla and coconut in their porter, they used a tea mixture. Maybe there was still some actual vanilla and coconut in there, but after smelling the the tea mixture (they have containers of it by the register), it seems like they're relying on the tea.

The flavors were real subtle and if we hadn't of known to search for vanilla and coconut, we don't think we would have picked out those flavors in particular. The same for their Hyper Hazelnut Coffee Milk Stout (not listed as tea infused). I got neither hazelnut or coffee. But it was still a good tasting low ABV milk stout. We actually liked all the beers we tried. None of them were WOW! beers, but all we enjoyable. The tea infusions are a nice niche idea, and they came off well.

It's in Brighton so there's ten tons of nothing else out there, so we won't be hurrying back, but I'll keep my eye on them.

Are there any new Denver breweries that are experimenting/putting out NE style IPAs?

We've always got a steady rotation of NE-inspired hoppy beers! Rare Trait (our house IPA) should return to the taps next week along with Mango Rare Trait. Lots more in the works.

Not completely "new" but the new Blue Moon brewery in Rino is due to open in the next week or two. They should have their own line-up of house beers and food that compares favorably to Avery's.

I think we may be in the minority of those excited for this to open. #InBenWeTrust

This just means there will be more for me and Purple Drank. Blue Moon is gonna be dropping bombs.

What should we expect other than lemon-lime-cranberry Blue Moon?

They very well may produce some great beer. But just like Goose Island, I won't touch 'em. Supporting the big brewers, who are trying to quash the little ones, is something I won't do. It's, like...a sacrifice or something. I should be on Oprah. :sunglasses:

While they will have the normal Blue Moon beers, there will be plenty of normal house beers that have no relation to the bottled items. English and German styles, sours, BA items, etc.
It's a showcase for the brand. The brewmaster came from AC Golden, so he knows his way around a bunch of different beers.

If it's Blue Moon, then that's enough relation for me to avoid them. It's nothing personal to the brewers. I know that sounds cliche, but I won't bad mouth their product. The corporate practices on the other hand......

I'm an admitted fan of the Blue Moon bottled items and nearly everything I've had from the AC Golden division. I also know that Ben (and Troy) have done some killer things for the small brewing community in CO, too. Ditto with some friends working at Miller in the Midwest. Corporate ownership aside, they've been rather outgoing to me personally. I'm going to support the "crafty" divisions like the evil sellout I am.

Not sure if anyone has been to Maxline yet, but they seem to be doing some good things over there...

Had their IPA, Oatmeal Stout, ESB, and Imperial Brown... All were 'at worst' solid, with the ESB being absolutely excellent. It's listed at 6.7% so I suspect it wouldn't exactly fit the style guidelines, but my palate could give two f**** about fitting a style. Good beer is good beer and these folks are making it.

I guess I'm part of the minority, too, but if it's good, I really don't care. I don't blame GI, Ballast Point, Lagunitas, , etc for sell7ng. Seriously l, if someone offered you that kind of dollaros, are you really gonna turn it down? EXTREMELY unlikely.

And Joe Average working for A.B./Inbev is just trying to make a living like everyone else. I'd take a job with A.B./Inbev if offered.

I agree. I don't blame them for selling. But I do blame BMC for bullying practices designed to unfairly quash competition, limit consumer choice and put others out of work. I have no problems with people working there, until we get to the top tiers of admin. It's nothing personal :sunglasses:

I had a Blue Moon in the absence of any other choice a couple weeks ago at an old Virginia landmark, Lowery's Seafood Restaurant in Tappahannock. In my recent liquor store gig I've seen how quick this moves so I approached it with curiosity and an open mind.

To quote Gertrude Stein, there was no there, there. A big pint of nothing. I guess you could say it wasn't offensive.
