FedEx "What's in the box?!?"

Ive been asked that before, i ususally say "i dunno my boss told me just to drop it off"

 

I only send boxes for the BIF wins, and I've never been asked, except the one time I used a twelve shipper box I got from my liquor store. It had whatever brands logos on the box and I didn't think the lady at the local drop-off was going to stop asking, but she finally did and sent it. Only plain brown boxes for me from now on.

 

I have a daily scheduled FedEx pick up at work so I just print the label off and place it the locked closet for pick up.

This last trade has me buggin' a bit (I'm very green to beer trade so maybe I'm just overreacting).

Normally the tracking number goes LIVE a few hrs after pick up. It's been 17 hrs now and the tracking number is still "Unable to be retrieved at this time."

Is this normal or do you think I'm going to have a problem?

 

I use "I dunno, my wife sells a bunch of stuff on ebay, I'm just dropiing it off for her."

Just wanted to add to this thread as the whole issue can be very annoying and frustrating.

I really hate it when they ask me and it happens every single time.

it goes a little something like this:

Me: Hello, hows everything going, been busy lately ?
Fed Ex: Good, yea a little, What are we shipping today?
Me: (Palms begin sweating intensely) o just some personal miscellaneous items, O!(with added emphis, as to detract and give segway to something more important) but no glass or anything like that, I just like to put the fragile sticker on for good measure is all.
Me again: Do you prefer cash or credit, which is easier( Yet another distraction )
Fed Ex: Either will do just fine.
Me: Okay sounds good.
FedEx: (Begin's measuring Box carefully)
Me: O!(again added emphis as trying to help) Its a 10 by 10 by 10
FedEx: thx
Me: No worries
FedEx: Verify the information is correct.
Me: Yep looks good. (swipe my card and run out of there).

Then Happy trader drinks and beer.

Not sure if I replied upthread or not, but, when they ask me, my standard reply is "not exactly sure, but, my girlfriend makes glass and ceramic art. Sells it online, craiglist, etsy, I dunno exactly, but this shit's heavy, can we get along with things?" Shrug, YMMV.

 

damn 2 years ago huh, thanks for resurrecting this. i’ve been using this line since with out a hitch!

 

My UPS store has an alcohol shipping license. And he knows all the fake things people are shipping. So for an extra few $ I can be honest and he just adds a signature required to the package.

 

This wouldn't work for me if I was a recipient. I would never be able to be home to sign unless I took a day off work. If it went to a UPS location for me to pickup I would be an hour ride each way.

 

Can you hold a package at another location with UPS similar to the FedEx/Walgreens connection?

 

How much extra $ is it? Does it vary per quantity in the box or is it a flat rate?

 

I think it’s just too rural here. Not much of anything within 30 minutes.

 

Switched to UPS the first time my local asked me...Haven't had an issue since

 

UPS asks every time. FedEx asks way less frequent.
UPS asks for every god damn package, even when it says Amazon and even when it is going to Amazon.

"Well we just want to know is all!"

Ugh.

It's annoying for regular packages, never mind anything related to this site. And I am being 100% honest on that. I was frustrated about this way before I joined BA.

 

print your labels at home..and avoid this convo altogether.

or print labels at the fedex place itself.

then just ask for a receipt and be gone.

 

I believe it's a flat fee for a 21+ signature required. Maybe $5 more?

 

Didnt know fedex and walgreens did this....huh

 

My outgoing shipment always contains: BBQ sauce, olive oil and peanuts. ;-)
