I agree. Best 'fresh' Zhukov in years. For what it is worth...CCB still says you should sit on it for about 5 months (December) before cracking.

I was going to ask. I read that they release it during summer so you can "age" it until winter. Is that the preferred move?

Generally it is a bit smoother around 6-12 months. Still good right away, just sometimes the roast is real pungent early and it mellows after a little while. Some people like it more after multiple years. Which is also good. I haven't had this years version, but generally I'd say buy 2 one for now and one for later.

It is really up to you and your personal taste. CCB use to state that they brewed and released it in summer so it would be "perfect" by the time that it was "stout season."

Stout season in Florida is when you put the AC below 70

I just wonder why they don't make this fact obvious anywhere in the tasting room or in announcements. I agree with you though. It's best with a few months on it.

Tried 15 next to 16 at the Red Banner dinner and 16 was as good as it's ever been right out of the bottle compared to years past (which were still excellent). That being said the complexities in the 15 made it even better, they said 18-24 months is the real sweet spot for these beers.

The new TW Brandon has cases of MZ sitting on the floor. I didn't ask about limit, but there was nothing on the sign. ABC Brandon got 2 cases. Limit one pp. ABC $16.99, TW $15.99. The new TW has all the Alesmith stuff, as well. Nice store, nice people. Bring your own knowledge.

There was a bunch in the CCB cooler when I left last night. I don't know if you were asking about Tampa proper vs "Tampa area" but it was there.

Last summer we did a 2010-2015 vertical and 2011 was the clear winner with 2010 as a close second, although a touch of oxidation was beginning to set it at that point. Those would have been 4 and 5 years old at that point, so it certainly ages well for up to 5 years I'd say.

I'll be in town for the Cycle releases the week of Aug. 15. Can anyone give me some pointers and tips. What's a good time to line up and all that. Hoping to get a least a bottle. Do they normally well out right away? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you get there by 7 you should be good, some days might be more sought after but I doubt there will be instant sell out mornings...unless the count is super low.

Just watch their instagram, it's normally a pretty good indication.
