    Aslin release is a disaster.

80 people in line at 10:15. Second line formed for Mug Club members who bought out half the inventory prior to 11 o'clock opening.Tons of disgruntled customers neckbearding over their lack of cans.

Their demand has soared so quickly, you essentially have to be in their club to get takeaways unless it's a Thursday release.

    Bloody shame.

I have to ask - why is it so important to get crowlers? It doesn't seem like they're trading that well yet, and you can stroll right in after open and drink the same beer on tap with no wait. People are waiting in line longer than you wait at Tree House, and at least there you can walk away with 6-12 cans and 3-4 growlers.

Because some of us like to get a buzz and not drive 1 hour home.

Many who get crowlers also get pours (some even heading to ocelot to drink there afterwards). Getting crowlers doesn't dissuade many from drinking beers at the brewery.

For the folks from out of town, it likely isn't worth the drive if they can't take some beer home. I don't know many people who drive an hour or more just to try a beer a tap (unless is it some super whale).

I got the impression that ever since some of their beers snuck into the BA Top 250, their beers started catching fire on the trading circuit. It's my opinion that without trading, they wouldn't have any lines for crowlers.

Don't get me wrong I love trading. This is just one of the less desirable effects of a secondary market.

I suspect they're not going to be able to continue offering so many out of distro beers going forward. Those Peche Mortel bottles are dated from January, which isn't optimal for a coffee stout. That suggests they've been hoarding up good stuff for a while to make a splash for their opening. Even the employees admitted they may never be able to get Holy Mountain again.

Is the new Total Wine in Leesburg open yet? If not, when does it open?

Had some hiccups on the bikes from DC and got there at 1050-55 to be the first person to not get a ticket. Aslin was super cool and apologetic (!) about it, and I ended up getting a crowler of Neutrino anyway, which is really good and my favorite between the two.

Agree with the previous poster that people shouldn't be so concerned about crowlers, but it's hard to swallow having ridden 24 miles from DC to miss barely. Got the chance to drink pours of both plus Mind the Hop, so definitely worth it.

Well handled release though, no complaints - shouldn't have hit snooze...

I have kids and can't spend all day on Saturday driving out to the middle of nowhere, drinking beer, then driving home drunk.

Pretty much this. Although, with kids its next to impossible to drive out and spend +2 hours to get a few crowlers. That said, the wife and kids were out of town today so this was one of the few times I'll ever be able to do a Saturday release.

Got there at 10:15 and barely got tickets. 10 minutes later would have been SOL. That said, everyone on line was really cool. And the lines are definitely being driven by traders.....everyone around me was talking about what they could get for a crowler. Kind of sucks for those of us who just want to grab a few to take home and enjoy but that is the nature of the beast.

I'll never understand that. Oh hey I have like the best IPA of all time, filled today by a local small business. Better trade it for some other IPA that's probably not as good, that's shipped hundreds of miles away and sat in a hot truck for a few days.
