Seriously, how is this only mentioned once on this Notable Releases thread! Was just in San Diego muled back about 60 lbs worth of MT beer including some of the Monster Park variants.

A mess. My idiot friends typically line up around 1030a to try the other offerings, but you could show up once the line dies and get a ticket for a pour of the Zwanze (but the other stuff kicks within an hour or two). I would guess that this year would be worse all else equal, i.e., more demand, because of the fruit, but I also wouldn't under-estimate the dampening of numbers caused by them moving it to Sovereign. People seemingly don't know that place exists or are unwilling to go to G'town (or just can't find it). There will likely be very few randos/walk-ups like at CK, plus the extra space as you mentioned, so I expect it to be better than years past on the whole in terms of crowding.

They had a pretty decent lambic event a couple months ago. Was surprised that they still had bottles left, and also some Cantillon Gueuze on tap when I went the night after.

I also made reservations on a Saturday night thinking it would be busy like CK. There was about 3 people in the lower level besides me and my friend. This was at 7:30pm, and it never got any busier than that. Maybe I have just lucked out crowd wise, but it does seem like its never a shit show like CK can get. The tap list was bangin' that night, so I was surprised it wasn't more crowded.

I barely use metro (not a weird brag, I just rarely find it convenient) but there's still a group of people who live and/or work in the city who do, and Georgetown is just off their radar. Georgetown as a whole is fairly lame unless you're buying one-off boutique furniture or trying to be on a cupcake tv show, so I don't blame them!

true. I'm a regular at CK, and some of the Sovereign bar staff now works at CK part time because Sov just isn't that busy. I don't know why they put it there....

^^ Yeah, this was definitely a topic of discussion when they first opened. I wasn't so sure they would be able to do well in that location, but I also didn't want to under-estimate NRG and the seemingly endless demand for beer bars in this city. I sadly don't see them making it though...

living around the corner from CK and being told that more or less there's 0% chance cantillon or other Belgian rarities end up there because Sov exists is also annoying.

the food is good there, but $$

First trip to CBC on H St.

    Pros
    -single bottle/can pricing is decent
-selection is good, but nothing crazy
-heard an employee correctly pronounce "gose"

    Cons
-already have really old beer on the shelf. i.e. lagunitas sucks from february
-have tons of american pilsners but don't carry pilsner urquell, sorry not a good sign
    -parking is horrendous

if i lived in the neighborhood i'd be glad this place exists, but as soon as WF opens I'll just park in their garage and pay less for the same selection.

Well I would say now it's pretty darn popular involving a lot of crowds and people camping out.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a rough count at the number of neckbeards who stood in line for Aslin in blistering heat, direct sunlight and high humidity?

Going there just to count people probably would have been dumber than going there to stand in line.

Don't know, but they tweeted that as of about noon they still had crowlers and no line. Crowlers were all gone by 3 or so.

As an Avery fanboy I've been sad with their canned offerings lately. The fuck is gong on over there? Get it together with the cans Christ. Pezik saison was whack, raja is a malt bomb after a month...
