Best places for good beer in Nova/DC

    Good afternoon all,

    I'm moving down to the DC area to start a new job and was looking into good places to get rare beers and wines. I lived in the area for 6 months last year so I know about total wine. I'm curious if there are any hidden spots to pick up a rare bottle, bars or beer trades I should check out.

    Where area are you moving to? Lots of places sell rarer stuff. In Arlington, Arrowine, Brewshop, K-1, Lost Dog Cafes, Whole Foods, Westover if you don't mine a tremendous markup. Dominion in Falls Church is probably my favorite they've had a growler station, but just added crowlers to the mix.

    Good bars for DC are church key, meridian pint, smoke and barrel and sovereign.

    VA-Rustico, fire works pizza, Galaxy hut, evening star, DRP Bell Haven, Bside and lost dog.

    Pizza paradiso for DC and Alexandria

    If you like beer fests Snallygaster in mid September has the largest gathering of rare beers in the area. Just be ready to drop more cash then most beer fests. Also the vip ticket is a must if you want a chance at the top beers. Even then not guaranteed.

    Thanks I'll look into that festival, ive been on a quest to find Cantillon since I had it once at a beer trade. Any luck with it down there? Some foreign diplomat has gotta have some stashed in his luggage

    In DC, check out Craft Beer Cellar, WF P St., Conn Ave Wine & Liquor, d'vines, Calvert Woodley, and Magruder's.
