That's what it sounds like. From DCBeer:

"Look for a DC launch on Tuesday, September 13th at ChurchKey. Northern Virginia gets into the fun two days later, with an introduction to Wicked Weed at Rustico's Alexandria location on Thursday the 15th. Premium will handle the distribution in DC. Look for 375mL bottles at better retailers, showcasing, per Bill DeBaun, "creative, well-executed" beers."

Schneider's was mentioned a couple posts above yours, may be your best bet for BB Biggie.

Nothing in NoVA as far as I could tell. Last two bottles I had were found in Charlottesville proper about 2 weeks ago.

Haven't seen regular Biggie since it was first bottled.

are Modern Times bottles/ cans coming to NoVA, or just DC or is DC just getting kegs?

It's not uncommon for distro to either hold cases back for a fun release months later, or misplace them in their warehouses.

Earlier this year a bunch of KBS '14 was showing up on shelves in the area. A pallet was misplaced at hops & wine.

No offense, that's a nice story but highly unlikely. I'd imagine they do a wall to wall inventory (absolute) minimum of 4 times a year. For something to get missed, or not counted right, multiple times, is basically impossible. For something so valuable ($/cs compared to everything else there), someone would have noticed.

That seemed to be the general consensus from the retailers who were getting it. Multiple stores from Total Wine to local bottle shops up from Nova to F-Burg were getting deliveries of '14 KBS. I still have some in my fridge.

Is there any precedence of something like that in such large quantities? I could see maybe that years release coming out again later (i.e. norms) but a 2 year old bottle? Doesn't seem like anything other than a mistake would be the cause of that.

I could see it happening very easily, and the people who misplaced it probably have little sense or appreciation for the value of one beer relative to others. Even if they know what it is, it's just one pallet in a thousand.

This probably happens all the time with beers no one cares about, so we don't notice.

It could be Founders having some fun and releasing it to distributors and have them say, look what we found laying around. It helps build some buzz and is exciting for the brewery. I definitely could see Lagunitas doing something like this.

In this case my guess is the distributors held some back to release alongside Breakfast Stout. They're probably hoping some of the excitement of KBS will carry over to more BS sales. They're not going to say that for obvious reasons, so they say it got lost in the warehouse.

On a totally unrelated disappointment, I bought a bomber of Omnipollo Fatamorgana at Calvert Woodley a few days ago and I cracked it last night. It was a gose. I dunno how in the world that happens, but wow.

I've had Fatamorgana about 5 times so I'm familiar with its palate coating dankness. It wasn't an infected Fatamorgana because I have a good idea what that would taste like. Very strange, thought I was fucking tripping. Lets see what Omnipollo has to say...
