As a South FL resident I would say go to the Tampa area. FB puts outs some cool stuff, but nothing special to visit IMO. Go check out Cycle, Angry Chair and CCB.

Come this way (to Tampa/St Pete), young man! Check out this thread. Figure out all the places you wanna hit but make sure you hit Calusa in Sarasota either on your way up or, more likely, your way home! Cheers!

Sold! I will give the thread a read so maybe this is already in there but any particular day of the week anyone would recommend? Particular days when the latest beers are released or crowds are the best or anything like that?

Tampa is where it's at. Required visits: CCBC, Cycle, Angry Chair and 7venth Sun.

Others if you still have time: Escape, Green Bench, Barley Mowe, Coppertail.

Releases by Cycle, Angry Chair and 7venth Sun are pretty rare. But if they release anything while you're here, don't miss out. CCBC always has bottles and cans of regular as well as seasonal releases. You might luck out while you're here.

If I get to make 3 stops in a day I will consider that a HUGE win with a 2+ hour drive at each end. Looks like a straight shot up I75 to cycle, then ccbc, then Angry chair and back home is my best bet for my first attempt. Wife will be with me so I bet she'd be kind enough to let me drive there so she can drive home! Any killer place to stop somewhere in there for lunch? Gotta do fresh fish when in Florida, Chicago is good for many things but seafood ain't one of them. Thanks again for all the replies!!

Don't see many Escape or Barley Mow recs. Great to see something different. Hope to see more people recommend them.

CCB has growler Tuesdays that feature a rare one-off brew that's not usually available for growler fills.

@dtjager, follow the advice of any- and everything my friend @BKnarr says. I'd add that Cycle does discounted crowler/growler fills Monday nights.

Eat seafood down in Fort Myers. Order the pollo asado sandwich from Bodega on St Pete's Central Avenue (six blocks west of Cycle) and you'll put me on your holiday-card list. Many of the food trucks that frequent CCB are legit and there are a handful of amazing places to eat (Rooster & the Till, The Refinery, Fodder & Shine, Chop Chop Shop) near Angry Chair.

You COULD hit Coppertail pretty easily on your way back down to FTM. The food truck Beastro is often there and it's stupid-good. Safe travels; enjoy your time in FL!

Do you know who they got the barrels from? I thought the Pritchard's deal was done. Curious to see which brand. Maybe one of the Florida rum distillers like Wicked Dolphin or Siesta Key?

Ugh...I love Siesta Key. I'm not a rum guy and I drink it neat. The toasted coconut rum removes clothing in <2 hrs. #sciencefacts

*Doug, please put DOS is some wet toasted coconut rum barrels. KTHNXBYE

I'm sure bottles sell out fast but any chance this is on tap the following week?

It's certainly possible. Cycle has upped production in hopes of killing the secondary market value of their beers. Their latest coffee beer releases lasted quite awhile compared to previous releases.

If you look at their Facebook picture, they are indeed aged in Prichard's rum barrels
