Juice as a ingredient-depends, have had some great ones. Juice mixed with beer-not really something I'll try, mixing straight juice into alcohol doesn't suit me.

No. What's the point in adding fruit juice to something that already tastes like fruit juice?

Darned if I know. I've even seen people screw up perfectly good gin by adding tonic water and a lime wedge. I suppose because they like it that way.

Try home brewing - learn to brew the juicy stuff.

I'll step up as the arrogant snob on this one and say "dear God, please - no!". I'll splash Dewar's with soda and throw in a lime wedge when I'm at a fancy pants soiree, but at home and when I'm ordering Bourbon or a single malt for teh purpose of enjoying "it" I keep everything very much neat.

Sadly, i'm imagining this treatment with Creme Brulee.

Bourbon or rye makes a great manhattan. And try 1/2 an ice cube to your whiskey if it is too warm. A little dilution opens up the nose, esp. for higher proof stuff.

Beer cocktails? Great. Cheladas, mango ritas? Limes, lemons oj? Whatever. Enjoy what you like. But don't tell me it's better. If one has to add stuff to their beer, I would suggest try another/different beer. And to look at what they are searching for, and why. Not a fruit, vanilla, pumpkin beer kind of guy. Not a fan of the new NE style of" ipas". Every Trillium I taste, I say" where are the bittering hops? Double vacinity was ok though. Just ok. My style of ipa leans to more traditional, Ie, bittering hops. Tried lots of the Tree House as well, Meh. Santilli, Be Hoppy, Heady, all good in my book. Not everyone has to like all the different flavors of IPA. And seek out some other beers rather than adulterating it as to how you think it should be improved. Yikes. Ans now I duck and cover.

So basically, you're the only one that can decide what is good and bad... got it. You had to experiment with different beers and flavors before you arrived at a style that you truly prefer. The OP is experimenting as well and it happens that he found something he liked. Testing out new methods and new flavor combinations is the reason why we have such a large variety of styles to choose from today. And i'm okay with that.

Nope, I only decide what is good for me. Beer cocktails, not for me. I don't even do black and tans. YRMV. I tried different beers, of course, not adding junk to my brews. As said, if you need to add fruit to your beers, I would suggest to ask why and try some different beers. Beer cocktails are something different, not a "style" of beer. Radler, shandy, whatever works for you. Maybe just get a glass of OJ instead of trying to pretend you like that kind of beer? Kind of a line in the sand for me. Just me. Fruit away if that floats your boat. Just don't call it beer. Or beer inprovement. Beer cocktail, yes.

After reading this thread yesterday, I was inspired to add a shot glass of Apple & Eve Organic Orange Pineapple juice to a Brooklyn Scorcher session IPA (1 of 3 from a sampler 12 pack). Very subtle influence. Can't really say whether it was an improvement or not. Maybe I should have added a second shot.

I just recently discovered how much I like adding a splash of fruit juice to my beer. Go fuck yourself if you don't approve. Your opinion doesn't matter.

Sam Adams Summer Ale and OJ is pretty good.

Haha yes I actually am a homebrewer. Problem is: once I brew one of these I only have ~2 months to drink it in it's prime. If I do 5 gallons that's literally ALL I will be able to drink for that time period. Unless I want to let a bunch of it go stale.

I've been thinking about doing a 2 gallon batch or something like that, but I like drinking a variety of other stuff too.

Wow. So not only are people dumping fruit juice in beer, but it's also become the one topic we can't discuss? I don't see anyone having the type of response you're having against the idea of adding juice - just giving their opinion. As happens on every posted topic here.

Calm down and have an OJ and a nap.

Whatever works for you, great. Just not my style. I would suggest all those bud light premixes. Already to go with lime, mango, cranberry and what not. Cheap 12 pack mix packs, bonus.
