The first line is day, year and which brewery it was filled at. The second line is batch number and fill time.

You are right about it being hard to see but every bottle has a date right at the fill line on the neck. If you point it toward a white colored backroom you can read it. I believe its a Julian date.

Now's the only time I'll buy it, I know the 12 packs are fresh - & a good deal. Been burned by old Sucks a few times in the past, it's not the same at all with age on it.

It is certainly a different beer than it was. I recall talk of a hop unavailability issue for a while that caused issues. I assume this never really got resolved so the beer changed permanently.

The 32 oz experiment was the biggest craft beer gaff in recent memory. Never ended up next to BMC 40s as was the dream. It just got slapped with a bomber price and rotted warm on the shelves.

It's still a good beer. Just not as good. I like Lagunitas as a value buy when nothing better is in. The handing of sucks has been nothing short of laughable though. Sumptin extra is the only beer they make I go out to specifically purchace.

What is the julian date on the 12 pack bottles?

I've recently seen 253 JD of the regular six packs, marking it about 5 weeks old. I bought it at 3 weeks and found it enjoyable. I honestly give this beer a month. Past that and the fresh citrus flavors that I perceive all turn into a sweet unbalanced mess

I think the 12 packs are great....12th of Never is so easy drinking, 6 wouldn't be enough for a weekend or day of football

Totally agree about the switch to the 32 oz format. I didn't see Sumpin Extra this year and it's not listed on their website. Not sure what happened to that one but it, along with Imperial Red, were two of my favorites from them and looks like they discontinued both. Also, the filtered version of Citrusinensis was a big let down. They're one of my favorite breweries but it seems like they can't get out of their own way right now.

Extra was a limited release last year, seems they brew it every other year, same with Imp Red.

I'm glad Sucks is remaining as a year-round offering, assuming that's true. I can usually find it relatively fresh and on sale for $9.00 at my local grocery store.

The beer didnt change as a year round beer, it just sat and aged on the shelf and the hopa faded away. I'm glad its coming back as a seasonal, maybe people will appreciate it and buy it when its fresh again!

if Sucks is meant to be a year round release then what's the point with the seasonal packaging? Is there any difference otherwise?

Maybe for parties or gifts? The packaging has To: and From: on it. There is no indication of any change to the beer itself, IBU, ABV and OG are the same on the new santa cookie label as they were on the previous label.

I haven't bought Sucks in months. It seemed like it dried up around here after 200 (day of the year). Hope to have this on the shelf and fresh. Love this beer!

When the abv was 7.85 it was amazing. It changed to 8% at some point and was never the same beer.

My first sixer was dated 10/20 I think but not a single bottle I have now is dated. I'm assuming it's the same date it's the only shipment here. No big deal some might miss or rub off.

I had it fresh on tap at the brewery last summer and thought "this cannot be the same beer." Did not enjoy it.

However, I've found that the Born Yesterday beers are pretty darn close to the original Sucks, so I'll just stick with that.
