I accidentally (didn't think to check the dates on bottom of can until I got home) bought some 14 month old cans of Oscar Blues Deviant Dales. It still had a pungent hop aroma and bitterness, still tasty.

For the record, IPAs do not 'turn into' barleywines. That's like saying apples turn into oranges.

However, any malt heavy IPA can hold up over time, some don't degrade too badly, some taste even better. Pretty common knowledge. And keeping an IPA in the fridge will definitely slow the hop breakdown and oxidation.

Right. As long as you ignore the fact that an IPA can transition into something similar to a barleywine, but an apple will never turn into anything remotely like an orange.

In taste, maybe. But I've never seen the amount of grain increase in a beer as it sits. Barley can't reproduce in a bottle sitting on a shelf. If you're referring to a big IPA loosing some of the hop profile and becoming more malt forward in taste, then say so. Just saying it turns into a barleywine is stupid.
