What beer are you drinking now? #1476

Mrs. O and I are heading to Aruba tomorrow morning, we have a 5:20 am flight, so we headed to Minneapolis to spend the night. The Marriott property we're staying at has an "eh" beer selection, so I muled this along. It (TG Intergalactic Warrior ) is decidedly not "eh."

 

Both are very nice brew's.

Beer #5.


7 months after bottling, this beer is still remarkably good. No complaints here.

 

Good evening, all! Man, what a day at the thrift store and the bottle shop! Found a set of Riedel whisky glasses for two bucks at Goodwill, then stopped for some beer on the way home. There in the discount cart was a 2013 Utopias, clearance price $10!!! An absolutely stunning pairing, as this photo clearly shows:

Man, you have no idea. This is like a six- pairing.

 

I'm sick and tired of waiting for photobucket to power-cycle their servers...so I am celebrating with a beer that is "For that other night, that other goddamn night."

...and despite all of the pandering about hazy beers chocked full of green hops, Double Dog is a wonderful year-round offering that achieves remarkable balance for a DIPA @ 11.5%. At ~6 weeks from packaging, it is wonderful...some may define it is a 'hoppy barleywine' but it has a soul borne in IPA and those Columbus and Cascade hops shine when fresh.

 

Me too- with matching glassware to boot!

Honestly, though, no beer for me tonight anyway- I'm going to be on a weight loss kick through the holidays. With certain days excepted, of course . Maybe I'll allow myself one day a week for a few brews- we'll see how it goes. (spoiler alert- tomorrow will be a 'naughty day' )

Anyway, I still have enough calories left this evening for a few drams of Highland Park, so that's what's in the glass right now. Cheers, all!
