Hey Boston folks, I am back with yet another question about your wonderful city. What's the best place within walking distance to Back Bay station to grab a beer later on a Friday night? We won't be there until probably 10:30/11:00 PM.

We're looking for places that are still serving food or are in close proximity to burrito/pizza/falafel joints that stay open late.

I was looking at Bukowski's. I dig their food and their beer is solid. It looks like a 15 minute walk to Back Bay, which is fine by us. I don't know what time their kitchen closes though, anyone know?

salty pig is across the street from the back bay t station. they rotate often, check their facebook page for updates. i'm also a big fan of PICCO in the south end, 5 minute walk from t station. check their website for drafts, updated daily, also great prices! bukowski's was my go to in the area when i lived around the corner. cash only though.

also...don't sleep on parish cafe on boyleston. great sandy's and beer.

+1 on all the places mentioned above, especially Parish Cafe. Great sandwiches and their beer list is very respectable. Plus, if it's a nice night out, outdoor seating on Boylston St. is a bonus.

I was by the Salty Pig the other day, it looked pretty sweet. Any idea what time their kitchen closes?

Coda is less than a block from Back Bay Station and has a totally respectable (if not spectacular) beer list most of the time. My usual spot for pre-Cyclorama brunch. It looks like they only serve food until 11pm, though.

Just checked out the parish cafe site. It looks great. The sandwiches sound kick and it's only a half mile walk from the station. If this place has solid brews as you guys say it does then I think we've found a winner (I give it an edge on Bukowski's because Bukowski's is beer only and one of my friends is surely going to be looking to order whiskey).

I would imagine Parish gets pretty packed late on a Friday though. Anyone have any stories? Is it totally balls to the wall? Does a party of 6 have any chance of even sitting down in there?

I'd recommend calling any of these places ahead of time to be sure their kitchen is still gonna be open at that time. One of my biggest frustrations with establishments here in Boston is how early the kitchens close. I have lived downtown for over 20 years. Also, I disagree about it being no problem to get a table for 6 at that time. It might be as easy as can be- or for some reason, the place could be packed for no particular reason. There is just no telling how busy a place can be.

Franklin Cafe on Shawmut ave serves their full menu till 1:30AM. They usually have a few good things on tap, including stuff from Cambridge Brewing Company.

I think Bukowskis serves food till at least 1am. I would call though. Picco is awesome but closes too early for this situation.

Sound advice on checking on the kitchen. I double checked with the salty pig via e-mail and they confirmed that their dinner menu ends at 11 but they have charcuterie, cheese plates and pizzas until midnight!

Any idea how busy the Salty Pig is at that hour? The Parish was the direction I was leaning this afternoon, but then I saw the charcuterie menu at the Salty Pig. Charcuterie right under beer on my list of most important things in the world. As such, I am pretty confident we'll end up there. Any comments on how busy that place gets around the 10:30/11:00 hour?

    Thanks again!
