I wonder if the name of the brewery is really an obscure reference to an obscure musical? I suppose odder things have happened. Either way, we did stop in once & the beer was good & the people incredibly friendly, so don't write the place off because of a (possible) stupid reference!

Look at their logo if you have any doubt.

Put me into "I do not care what they call themselves as long as the beer is good" camp.

Well, I dunno about you but if surly changed their name tomorrow to 'white supremacy forever' that would make me significantly less likely to buy abrasive

Went to Angry Inch yesterday. Odd name, sure, but the beer is decent to good. It's especially good after visiting Lakeville Brewing next door, which continues to have every beer too sweet (attenuation).

I meant to say attenuation with a question mark. I surely don't know if that's the issue, but everything tastes sweet to me.

We already have that brewery in Minnesota. Union Pizza and Brewery in Fergus Falls has been giving pro Confederacy names to their beers. It really makes me wonder why they call the brewery 'Union'.

That sounds like attenuation problems. Were the beers lower in alcohol than what is typical for their styles?

The brewery explanation is that the beers are named after Ulysses Grant horses. I have no explanation for Major Chatham though.

Across the board in the four times I've been there. Now the latest was a cranberry wild rice dunkel, so maybe that's what they were going for, but it was super sweet. But I've gotten that sweetness from two of their IPAs, a cream ale and a brown (I think)? Those were earlier in their five months but all beers across the board had a sweetness taste.

As an experienced homebrewer and beer judge this just scream trying to do too much. Make god damned dunkel first, and then go mucking it all up with cranberries and wild rice. Gotta walk before you run people!

Roets brewery in Jordan is seriously almost open. Finally. Tasted 3 of their beers at a members only event on Wednesday and their plan is to be open for good next week (Saturday, I believe). Sounds like they'll be opening with a decent range of stuff, a pale ale, mocha porter, lemongrass IPA, scotch ale, and possibly a saison.
