    The fresher the better though.

    Cheers!

I thought it was pretty good, but agree that there was an odd flavor to it. The first one I had I wasn't so sure about, but I liked it better the next night. It goes well with spicy food, I found.

That said, it's not all that dissimilar to Ska True Blonde. I think I probably prefer the Ska.

Nothing wrong with being similar to Ska's True Blonde. I consider it to be an old (but good) benchmark for Blonde Ales.

Don't get me wrong, I like True Blonde. Maybe I was thinking of a different Melvin beer I'd read about when I got Killer Bees, but after drinking it, I was kind of surprised that it was a beer that was "blowing people away" when it's not a hop bomb, and it's pretty similar to a long-standing CO beer.

I can get that. It's a honey blonde. It's super chuggable and delicious, but it isn't reinventing the wheel. I've had it and I think the Ska comparison is 100% fair...but I also like that sort of beer to begin with. True Blonde has a near permanent place in my fridge. The Melvin name on the can/taphandle probably doesn't hurt KB's reputation. Hopefully they're bringing attention to the fact that a normal 'ol everyday beer can be awesome, too.

I am not sure what adding 8 lbs / barrel of honey does for the beer- usually honey beers are pretty high alcohol right? Since it mostly ferments out. It's pretty light, and it does have some honey flavors to it, but I also get that crackery malt characteristic as well. Almost like honey on a saltine cracker, minus the salt of course. I'm having no difficulties plowing through the 6-pack.

Damn. Lambda3 got me thinking Omego Mu (moo) would be a great name for a milk stout.

I wish Casper was more into microbrews. The Melvin cans just seem to sit there. I can't do it by myself.

How cool is Melvin? Through various channels, they bottled and sent me PilsGnar! I just had to pick it up at Keg & Cork.
