My friend who lives in Olympia Washington is going to visit me for Christmas. He wants to get me some beer but doesn't know what. I'm really into Berliner weiss right now and any sour made with fruit. I don't drink as much anymore, so the fruit Berliner Weiss are perfect because of the lower abv and the fact that they remain complex regardless of alcohol content. Reallay Im in a fruit beer phase right now. As a brewer, I love to see what other breweries are doing with fruit. So does anybody know anything available right now that fits that nitch? Beers and the store in which to purchase them. He is probably not going to want to travel far, so something available in Olympia would be ideal. Thank you very much in advance, Cheers!

3 Magnets out of Olympia makes some great beer. Not sure if they have a Berliner or not but their IPA's are solid.

especially lil Juice Smooth Edition & San-Sea

Maybe some Reuben's Gose cans? No fruit but they're easy to find.

3Mag had done a berlinerweisse before, but draft only, I think.

I'd second this if you like Berliner Weisse. It won back-to-back GABF gold and should be easy to find. They also do a Holiday Gose in cans which adds cranberries and orange zest. The cans are the same, but look for a red plastic topper thingie.

3 Magnets has a strawberry farmhouse ale out in bottles right now, and given the Olympia location I imagine it's easy to track down.

Beyond that I can't think of much fruit beer that would be on shelves. Cascade is always a good choice for fruit sours (I'd recommend Noyaux if you had to choose one), and Logsdon Cerasus should be easy to find if you are interested in a Flanders Red with cherries.

Edit: I know nothing of Olympia, but Reuben's Gose, Noyaux, and Cerasus are all showing in-stock at the Olympia Total Wine. 3 Magnets is in Olympia, so can likely by direct.

A friend brought me some of that gose back from Seattle last weekend. I've heard it will be distributed in Spokane soon. I can see stocking that beer in my fridge this summer if able.

Checking 3 Magnets website and they have Gull Harbor Gose in bottle and two that might interest you on draft.
Karaktebier which is a"farmhouse" style beer and an Autumnal Dark Farmhouse Ale.
I dont suppose they have a crowler machine!

Just north of Olympia is Tacoma. In Tacoma is Enginehouse 9. E9 makes great sours you rarely see outside the brewery.

Luckily, this is starting to change. I'm seeing E9 on tap lists around Seattle more frequently. Sorry if that's not true of B'ham.

Yes. Bottles around Seattle at the best bottle shops. Can't speak for Oly, though, which makes me no help whatsoever to this dude's friend.

Gravity Beer Market in Olympia has a good selection. I would think they should have most of the bottled/canned beers referenced in this thread.

It's funny you asked that question. I stopped in there a couple months ago and the place was practically empty and I just got a weird vibe that things may not be going well there. I feel bad for not going very often, as I live in Lacey, but I work around Tacoma and Pint Defiance is always more convenient.

Affirmative. Don't recall the price though, but there looked to be around 4-5 varieties.

That's a shame. It's been a year or two since I was there, but I thought it was a nice place.

Update: A friend of mine is doing a job in Olympia and stopped by Gravity. They are officially out of business.

I verified this myself a few weeks ago, it's too bad, they were a solid shop.
