The Pilsgnar I had this summer with Loral hops was mind blowing. Hands down the best hoppy Pilsner I have ever had. So well executed. Was at TMU a few weeks ago and the latest version wasn't quite as rad but still good.

Also had Beeraccino, a nitro coffee brown ale that was as closed to a Capuccino you could make a beer taste but still have it taste like beer. Weird, I know. But it was so amazing. Straight creamy coffe beer. Again very well made, not adjuncty at all.

Did get a small sampler of a Barrel Aged Ruckus that was pretty damn tasty. Can't remember exactly what barrels it was aged in as I had way to many beers that night but for some reason I feel like it was a bourbon barrel that was then used to age Port?

Also the recent 2x4 seemed to have much more hop presence, like I remember it being when it was just brewed in the closet at TMU. I used to get hit in the face with hops when I first had that beer. Cans from this past year were just more malt dominant it seems, still awesome just not as much hop Aroma and Flavor as days of old. Recent ones seem to deliver that punch I remember.

Guys,

Will be visiting Steamboat from MI via I80 to Laramie and then to SB. Any good beer stores on that route I could hit to pick up some Melvin? Would love to try it.

 

Give Central Park Liquor in Steamboat a call- solid selection there and, though I haven't lived there in a few years, I would suspect they are on point with the Melvin.

 

Thanks. Gave them a call and the Beer Manager said they don't carry anything from Melvin. Any stores in Cheyenne or Laramie that would carry 2x4?

 

Still package liquor in Larmie. Call first but they usually have some.
