I definitely have a collector mentality, so I have to consciously limit myself. I don't save bottles, unless there's something special about them. Like if they're ceramic, packaged in a Westvleteren box, or come in a special tin, or something like that. There are some exceptions, like if they have sentimental value for some reason. In total, I probably have less than 20 empty bottles.
Caps & labels, I've thought a couple times that I wanted to save them and do something with them, but never actually end up using them, so they end up going away now as well.
I do try to take pictures of everything I try though, so I do collect them that way. The only things I physically collect now, beer-wise, are growlers and glassware. Although there's a constant accumulation of random bottle openers, stickers, and misc. other things that end up in boxes.

I think I will start collecting labels (or parts of) if I am able to get any of the BA Top 250. Started last night with BCBS.

Welcome to the 'club.' Be sure to do a search of this forum (and probably some of the posts above) to check out the various threads in this forum about how to get labels successfully removed from the bottles. There have been several threads over the past few years.

Thanks for the advice! My Goose BCBS label came off very easily so I will take that as luck

What I do with my bottle caps is, I have a beer themed van, and I use the bottlecaps to cover the screws that hold the interior in. What I do with the labels is, I stick 'em to the interior walls and then, apply a couple of coats of satin polyurethane. Looks very cool!

I used to keep the (different) labels I could get off the bottles in photo albums. Now I only keep my German/Austrian labels because it got too cumbersome to try to keep one of each, moving them each time I got a new one. I keep an occasional can (three to date) or bottle (1). The rest go to recycling, although my local recycling establishment no longer takes glass. I save most of my caps and when I work a beer fest, give them to whomever wants to haul them away. So, wait, what was the question again?

Well I guess I qualify for this subject- as I've been trying to see just how many different bottles of beers I can drink in my own home for over 9 years.. and I live on a small island in the English Channel making sourcing them a challenge!
With help from lots of friends, colleges, my wife & lots of different trips I've made it to 1306 different bottles of beer so far from 77 countries, and this is the crunch- I've still got every empty bottle. I had to move then out from our garage due to my wife's protests & the fact I was taking her car to Belgium, so I needed the room for the 150 bottles I brought back with me.
The empty's are now washed, photographed & stored in purpose made boxes in my carpenter's workshop, ready for some future project of which I'm still in the thinking stage!

I work as a fly fishing guide, so I have tons of fly boxes. If I can salvage a cool labei I stick it on the back of the box. Makes identification easy. Otherwise, I don't bother.

I have my shelf/mantle of fame in my cave. It's a shelf that can accommodate my top 45-50 empty bottles and cans. I have a collector mentality with some things, but that single shelf forces me to keep it at a resonable number. If I end up getting a nice bottle I want to put on the shelf, I have to toss out one that I feel isn't as worthy which continues to get more challenging.

For now, you mean. All of these worldly decisions on which bottle to discard will eventually get to you and that shelf will receive some expansion construction. Good luck on that self-control.

Yeah, there's already a small collection of bottles I couldn't bare tossing out sitting behind the bar. Some of my buddies who I share beer with are trying to convince me to build a second shelf above the current one to accommodate those bottles.
