A name change and a 1700 application backlog. We submitted our application as "Oakhold" in May.

Nice. It's about time a brewery opens up in Minnesota with the balls to serve its beer in slices on pepperoni pizza.

Seriously, I wish them the best.

Heads up west metro folks, this deal at Birch's is back.

Does anyone else worry they are struggling for cash? Or am I reading too much into this.

Any local will tell you that St. Paul's "rockin' east side" needs more love, and good on 'em if they can make that happen. This is from a recent post on their Facebook wall:
They also mention hopefully being open in late summer 2017, in a reply to an inquiry.
Seems like a heck of a deal to me. Maybe they're just generous? :grimacing:

I think Birch's restaurant business does fine but it is hard to sell many growlers at their location. Also, I would guess their restaurant customers may order more wine than beer. This is a great promotion to try to increase their growler business.

I know where I will be heading tomorrow. Not going to wait till next week as I learned my lesson.

I have no idea about their cash flow. I think the supper club does pretty well. Maybe the brewhouse is not carrying its share though. And as JMN44 stated, not many growlers go out the doors. I will sit there for happy hour and my growler will be the only one that gets filled.

Definitely running out there tomorrow as well. $25 when I can get a growler and possibly a pint that day seems like zero risk even if they are struggling.

Might be time to start a 2017/2018 thread soon....Karl H?

2016 was okay for new breweries( at least Wild Minds impressed me ) but I'm way more excited about what's to come in the new year as it seems to be more industry/experienced brewers and more beer variety coming our way .

On my list from memory these all sound like they could be worth a visit.

    Barrel Theroy
    Pryes Brewing - Riverfront taproom!
    Fair State - Midway Expansion
    Utepilz
    Hoops
    Yoerg

Sorry, wasn't a list in order of quality, just a random list off the top of my head of places that opened this year.

Not sure if I've seen anything here about Torg Brewery (NW burbs).

Saw them because they were approved as an issuer through MNvest.

Secretary of State has Torg's office address in Andover.

    Facebook
    Website

    According to their FB page:

TORG BREWERY is a microbrewery serving the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities. TORG BREWERY crafts traditional ales and lagers and a unique line of “training wheel” beers for the craft beer novice. The brewery operates an engaging taproom which reflects the original qualities of the public houses of the British Isles. TORG BREWERY believes that which is brewed is always beautiful and strives to translate this philosophy into beers that present the rich complexity of grain, the subtle influences of hops, and the marvels of fermentation.

Brewers Association has had a BIP listed for Andover since this time last year. 's great to have a name to add to the ZIP code. :grinning:
