Excitement is building for the highly anticipated Mother of all Storms, a limited production Kentucky bourbon barrel-aged barleywine-style ale.

"Mother's Day" at the Pelican Pub & Brewery will be Saturday, November 17th, the 2012 official release date of this very popular seasonal brew. Sales of Mother of all Storms will open when the Pelican’s doors open for business at 8am Saturday morning. Bottles will sell for $20 each; cases of 12 bottles will be $240.

Booking the “Mother’s Day” Package at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda is the only way to guarantee a case of this limited production beer. The “Mother’s Day” Package is for one night only – November 16th, the night before the Mother of all Storms is officially released, and includes a guaranteed case of Mother of all Storms delivered to your room on November 17th – no need to wait in line at the Pelican.

Book Now or contact the Inn at Cape Kiwanda at 888-965-7001 for more information.

Can’t make the trip to Pacific City for “Mother’s Day” November 17th? You might still be in luck.

Due to significant technical difficulties we experienced last year as a result of the overwhelming popularity and demand for Mother of all Storms, rather than releasing Mother of all Storms to the online store, we will be going back to a waiting list via EMAIL ONLY. Send your name, contact information and the number of cases you would like to order (if supply allows) to Mother@PelicanBrewery.com to be added to the list. You will receive an auto response indicating your email was received. This in no way guarantees you will receive any of this limited production beer. The only way to be guaranteed any Mother is to be in Pacific City on November 17th.

IF we have remaining inventory of Mother of all Storms after “Mother’s Day” at the Pelican, we will be contacting people on the email waitlist in the order you were added beginning November 26th. At this time, we will confirm your order and collect payment information. Please be patient and do not call the Pelican - it will only delay the process and those answering the phone won't have any details. Some restrictions apply; see online store policy for complete details regarding the shipment of beer.

IF inventory levels allow, a very limited supply of Mother of all Storms will be released to retails locations, however a date has not been determined.

Got a case of this last year, but the combination of it: A) Being only good and not overwhelming and B) Pelican not shipping to PA will prevent me from ordering this year. Not too upset, all things considered.

I still thoroughly enjoy this...and it's better than most bourbon barrel barleywines that ever grace the shelves in this state. I just have it shipped to a state where one of my trading partners lives, tell them to take a couple bottles, and forward the remainder on to me. Works out well.

Consider MoAS on a par with KH.

Both are good beers, but IMO, KH >> MoaS.

I just sent my e-mail info- 3rd year in a row. It's an amazing beer and gets even better as it ages.

Totally agree. '09 Perfect Storm was borderline perfect, so split a case three ways in 2010 & was hugely disappointed when I popped one open on arrival, just wasn't very good. Tossed the other three in the cellar with a sad sigh. Had a tasting recently where someone brought the '09, so I grabbed a bottle of '10, & damned if it wasn't better than the '09 & just beautiful. I probably won't even touch one of my new bottles (assuming I get some!) for at least six months this time around.

Y'alls are cray, this beer is always great but best fresh. Letting the barrel notes fade out is like letting your hops fade out of an ipa.

I dont think the barrel notes fade at all. I think the flavors meld.
My 2010s are drinking better than when fresh and I love a beer with loads of bourbon.

I pointed out your reply to Tabb Romney, a loyal MoAS fan. He wants to go three rounds with you. Winner is recognized as the truth speaker.
