...and always. Drinking a few 16 ozers dated 9/16 and I'm in love. Should I mention the amount of detail aimed towards freshness written on the label? Discuss...

I absolutly love MO and the rest of the lineup with the exception of peeper. Not that it sucks, its just nothing special imo. For a couple bottlings I thought MO was my favorite and then along came another batch of lunch...favorite MBC beer...i think lunch has to take it. Although MO is super crisp and hop forward I love the thickness of lunch and the extreme fruit forwardness of this beer.cheers

Also, have u ever had the yeast cake in the bottom pour in to either of these, and if so did it seem to change the flavor at all. I thought it did...

I've had Zoe, MO, and Peeper all within a month of bottling date and they're all fantastic. Peeper was solid, Mo was really good. Had a 2 week old bottle of Zoe this past summer and it was awesome, probably my favorite of the three. Still waiting to try Lunch though.

I gotta agree with you on the Maine Beer Co. Love. Got a chance to try Lunch at Meade Hall in Cambridge a couple months ago... I was double taking the brew. Seems to be a very responsible brewing company with attention to detail. Really enjoyed

Don't get me, wrong MBC is awesome, but they're so inconsistent. I've had Lunch a bunch of times now and every time it has been different. Lunch at its best = amazing. Lunch at its worst = malty mess. Once they get their shit together I'll buy them more often!

i agree completely. they're great but i won't purchase any more of their products til they get their QA down pat.

another thing i have an issue with is their prices. i know they're a small nanobrewery and they do all sorts of good charitable causes, but 7 bucks for a 500ml bottle is robbery IMO.

at least the rest of you don't have to worry about this BA clearing out shelves of MBC products

Agree, considering you can get a 4 pack of 500ml bottles of Jack's Abby brews for 11-12 bucks.

All of their beer is solid, the owners are super cool guys too. Off batches happen to everyone, if it makes any difference they're basically brewing out of a garage so you can't complain too much. But prices? Don't know where you've been buying your MBC but you've been getting jipped man- Peeper is $5 and everything else is $6 here...

MO is amazing. Delicious beer. The only problem I've been finding is there is SO much old stock around. If you want the most recent batch you really have to seek it out. I still see old label/cap bottles everywhere. This must be frustrating for everyone involved. There have been four or five times I've wanted to buy it but had to pass because it's old. Hopefully as their distribution widens this becomes less of a problem as the stock can get spread around more. Bier Cellar in Portland is always the best place to get the freshest MBCo. The owner does an awesome job of managing his inventory.

It is also too bad about the inconsistency. But, imho, Lunch is the only one to really (permanently?) suffer to my tastes. The last three (at least) batches have not been as good. MOT has come so far and seems to have gotten better with every run. But, 4 packs would make their beer much easier to get behind if the price came down. Or if they do growler fills when their new brewery opens. But, that would be price dependent too. Their beers now are actually more expensive at the brewery then they are in stores.

I was fortunate enough to find some fresh MO, Zoe, and Mean Old Tom recently when I was in Boston for business. Haven't tried the Tom yet, but I really enjoyed the MO, and thought Zoe was decent. Like the others have stated, their prices seem rather high. I certainly wouldn't purchase Zoe again at $8 for 500ml.

The first two batches of Lunch I had were slightly buttery tasting...

Their beers are very good but nothing to write home about. Lunch is Solid but just that. Plenty of others as good for a better price. Zoe is a better beer IMHO when you put it up against others in the same style.

Also a bit overpriced IMHO. To each their own though. Subjective.

    Cheers!

Hard not to love these guys, they just get so much right to me. Great label design, 500 mL bottles, a cool motto (Do What's Right) and of course great beers. Zoe and Lunch were excellent, and I got Mean Old Tom as an extra and it blew me away. If anyone has any Maine beers they don't want, send em my way for proper disposal

Yeah this. I try everything they put out, but just once. Maybe I'd get around to having another Zoe or Mo...like one a year...but I haven't revisited any yet.

The price point is too high.

But I can't stop myself from buying them...!

MO is my favorite. Also, check out their new porter, King Titus (I think it's called). Yum.
