Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

Bible Belt and BA Bible Belt hit Chicago yesterday for those who are in search

 

Nothing at Binnys yet. I asked at Lakeview and they said they probably wont see any of it.

 

The usual suspects got it: Beer Temple, Capone's, Bottles and Cans.. There was still quite a bit left when I was at Beer Temple around 5 yesterday night.

 

I'm not sure you feel the same as him...he said he doesn't care much for them, but you said you think it's all great.

 

Close enough.

 

That was a LOT of beer for me to finish on my own. I got there about 3PM based on the Clare's posting and I could have walked right in at 5 and grabbed a seat at the bar...I found a place in the Loop that had 2016 Prop on tap for $11 for a 10 oz pour! That also may have been a reason why I was on the struggle bus to finish :/ I thought the 18 month was my favorite, it hit the perfect balance between young and boozy, and the silky smoothness of the older versions.

 

Where in the loop is that on tap?!

 

In fairness, while I regret being pulled away from the flight, it would've been quite a bit for me to drink in one sitting, as well (or at least, in a time span appropriate to hanging at a bar).

My all-time fave Indignant has so far been the 22 month Belle Meade from last year, but I'd love to have that thrown into this flight, because the differences were so interesting back-to-back.

 

Had to make a last minute, unexpected trip to Chicago yesterday. After I finished my personal business, got to stop at Beer Temple for the first time as my friend I was staying with lives right there. Scored the last 4 pack of Drago. Pretty excited about that. Awesome little Shop. Guy working was super cool, great selection, great music (old school Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana). Actually on an Amtrak, carrying my 4 pack, fairly hung over, headed home now. Oh yeah, bonus Dark Matter coffee for the wife too. One of the better beer shopping experiences in my life. But that story fits into another thread...

 

Beer Temple's a great place! I'm fortunate to live super close to it, as well as Capone's, two places in the city that always get the good stuff

Nothing super special about Drago, just a really well made BA stout. I like it. Good score

 

It was Jackson Tavern, on Jackson between Franklin and Wells. I got the second to last pour. I asked if it was a typo or something because I was absolutely shocked to see it that cheap and for a full pour. Here in Naperville, there was a bar charging like $24 for a 9oz serving of Prop. Jackson Tavern had a pretty solid list, so for those in the Loop I'd give it a look after work one day.

 

I hear ya. I had to force the last couple servings down But I did sit at the bar for like 3 hours and as taking Metra.

Yeah, ideally I would have shared it, as I really had to force the last serving or two down.

I didn't make it last year for this event but I have always enjoyed Haymarket's offerings when I do make it into the city

 

Anything coming out within the next month that people are looking forward to?

I am hoping to get a bottle of Madagascar but I know if I don't drop everything I'm doing or just get plain lucky it will probabaly pass me by.

 

TBH there is so much chasing to do in this city that for all intents and purposes, Madagascar has simply fallen off my personal radar.

 

I agree. Its a good beer but not one thats worth trying hard to find.

 

Binny's Grand had Sump about 20 minutes ago. There was about 2 cases left on the floor

 

These days I have to pick and choose which chasing battles I want to take on.
