I dropped from 2 bottles to 1 this round after the "frequency email". Spending $950 at a single brewery in a year on 30 bottles when I hadn't touched half of my last 2 rounds just didn't seem logical to me no matter how many times.

Not to mention my wife has been i the last few lottery pools, eventually if she can get in I'll benefit when the additional lottery items, etc become available.

I can't get over how CCB continues to have so many web and app issues. I mean their online tap list works great, but they constantly have those issues. Can't imagine it's the same person holding that job.

As for the cost and frequency, I expect a lot of people to drop out. The influx of good beers in the area has made people change their minds and also a lot of these beers aren't tradable, for people that owned memberships for that reason. I continued my 2 bottle membership. I think they still make the best BA stouts and at times other BA style beers around. I've decided to cut out Cycle to offset the cost and consumption rate and go with CCB and AC going forward. Certainly personal preference but I also find that the CCB beers hold up much better over time. And I get a good variety and some amazing beers.

Interesting economic perspectives being stated. I figured money wasn't a factor, but I was double wrong in not being aware of a declining trade value. I'm looking at it as a buy it, drink it, proposition. 3 editions per year would have to stretch a lot of budgets. Mine too.
Anyway, has anything been announced as to when and how the next lottery will proceed? Other than another "oops" proclamation.

My position is with all the great beers AC, Cycle, and increased distro of Funky Buddha, along with JWB, Civil Society IPAs, many do not want to risk the gamble of some of CCB's EC creative beers. People are still probably on a long waiting list so it won't ever not be at capacity, but when rounds consist of beers with suspect adjuncts (liquorice in Floridablanca i think as an example??) that aren't trade able as stated above, it makes people think twice...The fact that DBH B2 was a shell of DBH1 leads people to believe they aren't letting beers sit in the barrels long enough, reducing the quality. I have one 2 bottle membership left that my brother purchased. If not for him, I probably would have dropped out completely, like many.

Dropped to a 1 bottle membership for multiple reasons. Mainly the price, but the beers as of late just havent been that great, especially Hard Sauce. Total drain pour. The aftertaste on that beer was absolutely horrible! And I have another that I dont want.

i am still trying to figure out why people say this. 2 weeks ago a few of us did a blind taste test of OG DBH and B2 DBH. We were 50/50 on picking the OG. I think that DBH B2 compared to all the great BA adjunct stouts being pumped out may not stand up. But to the original it is very close

Yikes. I thought DBH B2 was much better than B1, so if by "shell" you mean better, I'm with you...

Stayed in for two bottles because I have a long-time love affair with Cigar City & IMHO, they have one of the best barrel-aging programs in the country. One of the only things that would force me out is more damn pumpkin beers. Seriously, enough already!

I didn't like DBH2 nearly as much as DBH1 but it wasn't a huge difference. I've had a lot of amazing beers since DBH1 so likely is part of the issue.

The problem is beers like the licorice and Hard Sauce. I would never buy those beers if they were on the shelf so you're kind of stuck with a beer you aren't really interested in and you can't trade. I also have several friends in ECC. Normally I would be fine with a Hard Sauce because it's something I can bring that they'll never have access to but it's so available now I've lost that reason for keeping it. I'm also moving past being skinny fat and have cut out 80% of my weekly beer drinking.

I'm staying in just to stay at this point. I don't really get excited for the beer anymore.

Can't argue personal preference, but I'd take every Cycle Trademark Dispute bottle and Buddy shots over every bottle from round 5 (even though I really enjoyed BA Zhukov).

So yeah, a lot of people are dropping from 2 to 1 or out completely not only because of budget but because we are getting spoiled with a lot of great options, namely Cycle, Angry Chair, and Funky Buddha kicking up their production big time.

I got an "insulated" lunch box as a gift with my Magic season tickets this year and it was a piece of crap. I'm hoping for something better than that.

"Bar Set" sounded pretty nice too...I pay the money for the beers so the swag doesn't matter anyway.
