What does something like a four pack of Konkey Dong realistically trade for? My buddy's 30th birthday is coming up and this is THE beer on his wishlist and I was hoping to somehow trade for it.

Not that I'm expecting it to be anything less than fantastic, but I just pray they don't half-ass it and pull it outa the barrel after 4-6 months, just to get it released. I think it's badass it'll be in cans, and as much as I can't wait to try it, I hope it hangs out in those barrels for a lonnnnng time.

1:1 Alchemist, Tree House, Trillium, Tired Hands (including Milkshake), and Veil cans
1:2 Westbrook Key Lime Pie Gose and regular Gose
    4:1 Jester King Funk Metal
+ included as main piece in a trade for Regal Rye, Velvet Merkin, & Consecration

Getting Konkey can be more of a hassle and cluster than most of the other Hoof Hearted releases. For those looking to trade most of their haul, they're probably expecting pretty nice or unique scores. However on occasion you might find someone that brought a large haul home, and is feeling generous. I won't be going to this release, but maybe you've already gotten a PM

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's not always a given that increasing the length of time a stout spends in a bourbon barrel means a higher quality or more delicious outcome. Quite often, it's just the opposite, especially when the stout has flavorings added prior to--those tend to die off. But even if the flavorings are added after, too much time could cause the base stout to become overpowered by too much booze and oak.

That being said, whatever they did with BA Mom Jeans didn't work, as it became watery and too strong on the Whiskey, with the flavors being muted, including the supposed chilies that were added. Hopefully they learned from that experience and are able to give Fitness Freak the treatment it deserves. Of course this always requires a bit of luck, especially with limited amounts of fluid or barrels.

TBH you should be able to get more than a 4 pack for that--Darkness doesn't come around very often, and is delicious. And BA darkness is even less abundant and more expensive. You're golden!

Fair enough, but from everything I've seen, from every BA beer I've had (bourbon at least), if you have the right barrels and the right storage, it takes a minimum of 8 mo. to get the enough barrel for my taste. This is assuming you're starting with a big, flavorful stout and with Fitness Freak being 14% and not boozy at all, I'd really imagine it will need some serious time in the barrel to get right, then hopefully throw the coffee back in at the end.

With all that said, I'm by no means anything close to an expert on the science, I just drink a lot of barrel aged goodness and am basing off of everything I've had in the past. No matter what though, I can't wait to try it when released, because I'm enjoying the base beer so much right now!

I agree, I think Fitness Freak will be able to stand up well, but my assumptions have been wrong before. I can't knock 8 months, that's usually a fairly solid timeframe. Ultimately it's at their discretion, and for the most part I trust their taste since they make so many tasty brews. We can only hope they're able to take this out at the right time, whenever that might be, with no unintended results!

I'm definitely happy to hear it might be in 2-packs as @invertalon mentioned, so it would both be a smaller commitment, while also potentially decreasing the ridiculous line anxiety people were having for the single bottles of the uber-limited BA Mom Jeans.

Anyone expecting an instant sellout even with the 800 ticket count?

Probably not instant, but I'm guessing they'll still go in a few minutes. Glad they increased their production this time though.

5min sellout (at least until those shopping carts expire and tickets go back up in a few). Not too shabby.

Damn I wish they forced split times though (such as 10am-2pm pickup and 3pm-8pm or something). 800 tickets with the parking situation they have? Will be a mess. lol

Is there a certain time to go? It says 10am - 7pm. Does it run out? Is it best to just go early or are the lines crazy?

Shouldn't run out, your ticket was to secure you a half case. Best time to go is something I'd like to know too. Haven't been down there, anybody with experience know if it is all right to bring a dog if I'm just going to be waiting in line?

Anytime between 10-7 you can go in and guaranteed your beer. I would recommend going later, as hoof tends to be "front heavy" with crowds. So parking and everything will be far more difficult at 10am.

    @KnowYourDemons

Dogs are fine. Just be aware, there are some loose dogs that run around. So depending how your dog is with them...

Got my ticket. This will be my first can release, so I'm interested in seeing how everything goes. Should be fun since it's at least supposed to be decently warm.

Yeah I'm thinking of going later this time, around 2-3 to avoid the long lines.

Do they frown upon drinking in line? Because if not, and the weather is good, I would be totally fine with lines and socializing haha.

Very curious to see what happens if the majority of people decide to show up at opening

They pour their own beer, so you can drink essentially anywhere on the property except in your car (which doesn't stop some people).

If the question is can you bottle share and open outside containers, yes and no. People will be having a share, as always, but it is not technically permitted. If the sheriff shows up, you're on your own. Although, they could also decide to fine Hoof for being lax on enforcement.

Is it business as usual for the brewery that day, just with long lines for people picking up cans? Would be nice to hang and eat/drink for a bit, too.

Also, what's the cost for the cans? Will they have other cans for sale or do they always release this way?
