I always buy a 12 pack a year. It may not be my favorite beer, but when the weather cools off I want a few of it and gooses octoberfest. I also buy Boston lager every now and again, it's great for what it is.

Schells and summit beers in general are this way for me. Schells is mostly German styles, I love their altbier. Summit makes lots of beers that are just good, but are killer deals. 7.99 sixes of a solid Pilsner, maibock, English pale, and octoberfest is always welcome.

Everytime I have a Fat Tire on tap at a restaurant. It's usually the best choice on tap at restaurants around these parts unless you go to a specific beer bar. Every time I have it I enjoy it and it takes me back to the beginning when I was just starting to explore craft.

    Cheers

Did you get a chance to try Summit 30th Anniversary Keller Pils last year? IMO that beer was AWESOME!!

    Cheers!

I did, I enjoyed it. I personally thought that it was good not great. I'd buy it again for sure if they rereleased it, but it just wasn't anything that stood out that much to me.

I greatly enjoyed the malt backbone that the Weyermann Barke Pilsner Malt provided.

Needless to say but we each have our own unique palates and preferences in what we seek in a specific beer style.

    Cheers!

P.S. Have you heard any news on whether they will re-brew this beer?

Is this actually a rare thing? I hope not.
One of my desert island beers is rated "good" here.

I really enjoyed the new SA Hopscape too. SA makes solid beer, just wish they calmed down with the arbitrary fruit or ginger additions recently.

Agreed, it's usually the company or experience that makes "good" beers "great." After a day on the mountain with friends, a Bud Light in the parking lot or Negra Modelo with lime at the Mexican restaurant becomes magical while we're together.

Oh, absolutely. I would say overall I've had better experiences with good beers, in terms of the stories I'll tell for years with good beer and great people. Great beer is going to be a better flavor, but nothing really beyond that. I may rave about a particular beer if someone asks, but that rarely comes up. I can't say I still talk about the finest meals I've ever had in my life, but I do have some fond memories in Burger King and Denny's with friends, which aren't places known for making five star food.

In terms of a good beer tasting great, I suppose that would make that beer great in the right setting. I can think of some really refreshing PBRs after a hot long run in the summer. That might be my favorite drinking experience of a beer rated below 80 on here.

Anything made by Sam Adams. Nothing is amazing, but none of their beers are bad either. I know when I have one of their beers I will enjoy it.

It's always pitchers of Yuengling Lager for guy's night. We always go to the same place and last time we were there the place had craft beer for the first time I can remember. I bought one craft pale ale (Sam Adams, I think) and it just didn't feel right, so it was Yuengling for the rest of the night and all was good.

The Peroni I enjoyed with my neapolitan pizza at Stone Pizzeria in Pittsburgh was just as good, if not better, than the Grimm Present Perfect berliner weisse I had at The Modern in NYC. Both were special experiences with special people.

The last time I was at Gillette Stadium to see a Patriots game I saw that they had a bunch of stands with different craft beers available. Being at the stadium watching a live football game is good enough, but being able to have good craft beer at the same time is even better. I got a Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter and Mayflower Porter. Both beers are good, and at the time I thought that they were great. Or maybe they are just great beers despite the environment. Reminds me I should revisit those... Cheers! :stuck_out_tongue:

Also the last time (and the first time) I went to an Indian restaurant I noticed that they had 4 or 5 different Indian beers. A few were in 22oz. format and I just wanted a quick drink so I just got the cheap 12oz. Kingfisher Premium Lager. I guess it is their mainstream corporate big beer there. I thought it paired nicely with the food and tasted pretty good. Next time I'll have to try the 22oz. beers.

Yeah, it drives me a little nuts when I read a review where someone gives a highly rated beer a mediocre rating then says, "not really my style."

Probably based on a small sample and at the wrong temperature, too.

Schell's Bock, some Summit brews, and a lot of people consider Bell's brews to be "only" good. And I can't get enough of their Two Hearted (especially on tap), Kalamazoo stout, and I really love their porter.

It's all relative. I've told this story before on other threads, but I really really enjoyed Genny Creams at a large charity BBQ when the only other choices were lesser BMCs (i.e. Busch, Natty etc...). I like the beer anyways, but it was as good as any of the BA top 100 that day.
