Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

Good day to stop at Goose Fulton!

Might as well have it served with mint chocolate chip ice cream also!

Roots Pizza, down the street from Forbidden Root, should have BA Darkness on tap very soon if not already. We went there before FR last weekend and I forgot to mention that it was up next as soon as the Todd the Axeman keg was tapped out.

 

Shamrock Stout is awesome served with or without ice cream. Base is Bourbon County with a great balance of the flavors. The mint is just perfect!

 

How is it? Worth the trip out there after work?

 

Was told it should be on all weekend. Well worth stopping by. Nowhere near the mint overkill of perennial 17.

 

That's great to hear. I'll probably stop by tomorrow. There's too much damn good beer flowing in the city this weekend.

 

Perennial 17 worth getting and sitting on?

 

Haven't had perennial 17 in a number of years as a result of too much mint flavor. Perhaps someone else here can help answer that question

 

Same here. I love mint, but the base stout was too thin, so it basically tasted like someone added toothpaste to a mediocre (not sweet enough) stout.

 

With Shamrock Stout rocking a BCBS base what's not to love here. One of these years I'll give 17 another try

 

Untappd alerted me to that, I swiped the notification off my screen. "Shamrock stout? Some silly, mediocre seasonal GI beer? Whatever."

Read the description posted above from the taproom menu. "Aww fuck. That sounds fucking delicious."

Don't know if I'll make it to GI this weekend, but I'll definitely wish I was there.

 

One of the easiest drinking BC variants ever. Doesn't taste like anything close to a 14% beer!

 

So am I late to the party, or did somebody already mention Capone's Twitter?

No idea, I won't be out of work for a few hours and I work nowhere near Capone's. I was just sharing with my fellow BA's

 

Can anyone recommend me a Chicago area peanut butter stout?

 

I always thought Absence of Light from 4 hands was pretty good reasonably fresh.
