Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

Adventures in Brewing with Jack would be a great event at the pub. We'd just keep passing him pints and let him tell stories.

 

I got five hitting IL Distro?

 

So, I've asked on social media with no results: What happened with the Bourbon Sweep The Leg Johnny Stache release?
It was postponed for some reason (even though they still had it on tap at the pub. Was thankfully able to get a crowler), and now Tunnel Bear is coming out as the next release.. so that's two Stache releases but no reschedule for Johnny

 

Slurm is better than I expected based on the feedback on here. It's got more of a lemon flavor than most New England-style IPA's; it's just a different citrus note to this palate.

Mouthfeel was perfect & it was certainly a haze bomb.

It won't make you forget about Julius or anything but I'm glad I nabbed a sixer.

And I'm not a Short's fan-boy by any means (I drainpoured my Cat Grass, for example).

 

Really? Tasted good to me/As good as the 12th Anny batch! But I'm no expert (and I had like... 4 pours of it by the end of the party lol )
Either way, glad to finally have an answer. I've just been like "Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

 

Y'all know I love me some Short's. But even I get really excited over some things. And whoever decided to sell six packs of Captain Fantasy at the pub is a gottdam genius. One of my absolute favorites,and if you dont like it, then the hellwichya.

 

Any knowledge if Magic Eye their new neipa will distro to IL?

 

Based on the way Shorts releases have been in Chicago, I doubt we'll see bottles. However, I did see a check-in for it on Untapped at the Hopleaf last night, so perhaps it is at least on draft there.

 

They're canning Melt My Brain! It's going to be such a good kayak season.

 

Melt my brain sounds like a zima.

 

You know they bottled it last year, right? Anyway, it is very lime forward, in a good way, without any of the syrupy sweetness you would get from Zima, Mike's, or any of that genre.

 

I passed the bottles, on tap in Bellaire and will probably pass on the cans

As the article says, this one was concocted by our own @coolhandwuke, so let's show so love, even though it totally beat out Pineapple Pilsner. Having had it at the pub, I'm curious to see how it scales up to production size. I remember being wary that it would be too bitter for my tastes but being surprised at how refreshingly balanced it is. Now if I can get get Luke to name a brew after a Tony! Toni! Toné! song....

 

I don't think it "smoked the competition". Pineapple Pilsner should have been the choice. Suspiciously, every time pp took the lead, this ipa suddenly got a ton of votes. I didn't forget how this went down. Its ok that the brewer really really wanted this to win, but we don't need revisionist history.

 

because you think it will taste like Zima? Or you don't like lime? How cool of you to not try it and pass judgement though, just saying.

 

I got 5 on it sounds alot like Huma, same hops.

 

Just looked at Shorts facebook, not same hops, the thread above is wrong.

 

Strange, it was copy/pasted right from the announcement. Although the combo should have been a tip off. Looks like it's been corrected, though:

"... filled with a dank combination of Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Amarillo, and Summit hops. "

Matches the FB description.
