If you like Canis Mexicanus, keep a lookout for Jackie O's Oro Negro. I'm sure you'll love that also, and it should be easily found at bottle shops. Word of note, I'd make sure it was the 2017 version (it's written on the lab inside of the Ohio outline). The late 2016 version was a little light on the heat and spices.

Edit: Or better yet, if you've got a car, take a trip down to Jackie O's today. It's about an hour from Columbus and they are actually having a big bottle release today, plus you can find a lot of their barrel aged stuff for sale there. Highly recommend visiting them, it's a great atmosphere overall.

Wow thanks for the heads up. I didn't know about the bottle release. I just looked up some info and noticed it's a 12 bottle limit, which sounds like the making of a same-day sell-out. Since I've never been to a release here, can you hip me to what I should expect? Will there be an army of mules? I'm not even sure if I can make it but in the off chance I can, I'd like to know what I'm up against. Thanks again!

It is probably no more than an hour and ten minutes away from you. The beer should last through this evening, but it will be close. That being said, as the original poster indicated, they have tons of other bottles available there. If there is any way you can swing it, I would highly recommend. Especially if you like barrel.

I'd be pretty surprised if it sold out today, I don't think Jackie O's has ever had a same day sellout on anything. However it's 12/pp at both the Brewpub and Brewery, so theoretically people could walk away with 24 bottles which may help it sell out quickly. I guess it could happen? 24 bottles of a $16 beer is kind of absurd though, but then again that is the way the beer community is trending so who knows. I know someone mentioned about 75 people in line at 10am, but you may have a good chance of just showing up in the afternoon/evening to smaller/no lines. There will probably be people updating stuff in the Jackie O's thread if you want to check it out.

You can always call them and ask for a case count before you leave, that should give you a good idea. Worst case, you still get to drink a bunch of great beers on tap, pick up a nice variety of barrel aged stuff, and then head to the Brewpub to smash a bunch of cheese curds (probably the best part of any Jackie O's trip). Even if it's sold out (which I highly doubt), I'd still recommend the trip.

Thanks, y'all! I'll try to fit it into the trip, especially since it sounds like it might be tamer than I would expect. Cheers!

Kenny road usually has stuff behind the counter too. Barrel aged Jackie O's and such.

I believe it was last year that Willoughby canned a batch of Hazy Days and it was at Heinens. Anyone know if they will be doing so again this year? If they have already, anyone know if it's still around anywhere (even if it's at the brewery itself)?

They started selling it at the brewery 3 Sundays ago .. $11.99 a 4 pack of 16oz cans or $66 a case. Give them a call to see if they still have some. Cheers!

I made it out to the brewpub around 12:30 and was among the last people to get bottles (I only bought 6). Most people were purchasing cases and some were apparently double-dipping. Nice drive from Columbus, too.

Incidentally we just released Canis Mexicanus a week ago so some might still be lingering at shops. We also just dropped our first production sour. 100% barrel aged. Called Terre du Sauvage. Agreed that Kenny, Weilands, and Crafted tend to have the rarest stuff behind counters.

I know it's customary to hate on HF if you're from Ohio, but this is definitely keeping me from being any bit upset about not getting to the Appervation release early enough for bottles today. Between XBA Boris and this, I feel bad for those who are still butt hurt from Van Wink or just hate the artwork and refuse to buy HF beers. This is fire.

Thanks! I'll try to hit Weiland's tomorrow and if I have any luck, I can pick up a bottle of the Canis Mexicanus. I didn't mention that I did try Terre du Sauvage the other day but I did and thought it was excellent.

Sixth city is a NE distributor I take it? Almanac is a nice addition, hopefully the rest of the state won't be far behind.

I didn't catch that it said "NE Ohio", so they must be... I never heard of them personally.

Very excited for Almanac though... Was just out in NoCal and loved our visit though and brought back a few various sours, which are all really awesome! I will be buying them often, for sure.

RyanMcfly already gave me some recommendations, but figured I'd ask a larger audience as well. Coming to Cleveland on Sunday 5/28. These are the breweries in the area I saw that are open on Sundays besides Fat Heads and Platform. Any recommendations as to the best one to hit up or the worst ones to stay away from or any events that might ne going down would be greatly appreciated:

    Nano
    Bottle House
    Market Garden
    Noble Beast
    Portside
    Forest City
    Goldhorn
    Terrestrial
    Rocky River
    Cornerstone
    Collision
    Brim
    Sibling Revelry

Also if anyone is interested in an in person trade possibly, let me know. I have a bunch of stuff and access to any Brew Gentlemen/Voodoo/Dancing Gnome beers or other Pittsburgh locals.
