I'm a pretty well adjusted guy(I think), but my brother and I got tickets to comic con one year. We drove around downtown San Diego for over an hour - dodging nerds in star wars costumes, the dude from V, and other various weirdos before looking at each other and saying "fuck it, let's get a beer". The nerds rule on that weekend, at least in SD.

 

As someone who has attended multiple GenCons (basically comicon of the midwest) the ration of virgin to normal there is off the charts high. Like these weirdo's made me look normal and well-adjusted.

You haven't lived until you have gotten into a fight with a dude carrying an 8 foot tall paper mache sword and wearing some sort of yellow paper mache hair in some attempt to look like some dude from a video game 99% of the population has never heard of.

 

Haha! Awesome. And really, I am a nerd at heart but could never go as far as these guys do.

 

as mentioned already multiple times in the thread...if you have a phone number, i'd call it...relentlessly. i'd call before bed and call in the morning, maybe even give a few middle of the night calls. i'd fill up the answering machine...i'd continue to do this until i got my beer back or some sort of retribution (him changing his number would suffice). don't roll over and play dead...

i had this happen to me on my first or second trade on the site. i kept calling...found out where the dude worked and emailed him there and filled up his voice mail for maybe 2 or 3 days before he flew the white flag of surrender and sent me my beer. it really didn't take much out of my life to make a 1 or 2 minute phone call between meetings at work or whenever i had a few minutes to spare or the thought crossed my mind. it was quite enjoyable to call and get sent to voicemail, leave a message...then call again and immediately get sent to voicemail until i filled up his voicemail box. didn't take much out of my day, but seemed to really ruin his day. i'd get ahold of his parents and even spew BS at them such as their son committed mail fraud and robbery and if you don't get what was promised you'll file a claim and pursue action. once you scare someone's parents, especially if they live at home...action will come quick. chocking it up to a loss and just shrugging it off is like watching someone steal money out of your wallet and not saying anything. i'm always surprised at how many people will do that. no need to get violent or do anything illegal, but nothing wrong with some persistent pressure to get what was promised to you.

 

If it makes you feel better, living at home with you wife and parents is lower. :therethere

 

Is anybody afraid of getting doctored beer after doing this? That would be my one concern.

Brad sent a bottle of Beatification to me and my brother after our dog passed away as a simple gesture of condolences and to think that BA's of this caliber are getting hosed pisses me off to no end.

Yes. I'm pretty sure the guy who burned me is active again and when I contacted him he said it was his roommate doing bad trades under his name. He offered to send me the beer and I turned it down because the guy (who had the exact same writing style as this fellow) that fucked me over was such an asshole I was sure he would have tampered with the beer.

 

I'd just keep calling his house, especially in the middle of the night over and over again. Or google his name, find what school he works for, get his email and sign him up for lots of gay ****. You could also, at your own risk, post his info on 4chan. They would really fuck with him.

 

I was just getting ready to say this. At a certain point you can assume your beer is going to be 3/4 beer 1/4 turbolax/spit/piss etc. It doesn't take much to recap a bottle.

 

Therein lies the rub - what you just described doing (persistant calling with intention to annoy) could be defined as harassment in some places.

 

Brad, that sucks dude. If I had the bottles I would send them to you as well... People doing shit like this just pisses me off. Maybe he will come around... you never know.
