What beer are you drinking now #1699

Parkway Tavern in New Orleans for shrimp po' boys, the rare lunch beer. Very nice local IPA.

 

Got one bottle in the cellar now, I'll have to crack into here soon on your recommendation! Still threw me off when I saw the Prairie can though! Would love some Bomb! in cans. Are they planning on canning anything else?

 

Brought a beast home for lunch . . .





Mildly hazy honey amber with fine bubble beaded head and good lacing.

Aroma of caramel malt, spicy hops with a touch of earthiness. Striking in a pleasant way.

Taste is full, spicy, caramely with a hoppy rye punch. Pleasant and lasting through the finish which is malty and hoppy in about equal measure. I don't notice the alcohol mentioned by other reviewers but at 9% ABV it's nearly a blockbuster.

Overall a beast of an Imperial Rye Ale which should appeal to those who want a heavy textured full flavored brew. Not stout like, not really ale like, something in between and unique.

 

Exams are officially over; last two were today. So this 3rd out of six total quarters is over. Got a nice 2.5 week break, aside from working...

Anatomy was a bitch--when you've got a 90 year old man barely teaching...42 out of a class of 80 failed the course. 50+ failed the exam. If that doesn't say something I don't know what does. Fortunately I'm not in that crowd.

Picked up a bomber and a single can of this on my way home cause it was cold and I needed a beer.



Nice bitter batch. Got that dank oniony (is that a word?) flavor when it warms a bit. If they keep putting this in cans I will continue to buy it.

Love this dude's lows.

Rare late lunch beer for me..Trillium's Pocket Pigeon...Wow are the beers is the small birds series good.

 

Hacker-Pschorr Naturtrübes Kellerbier.
Kellerbier sounds a bit boring, but is not. This one has hints of caramel, honey and plum. And a nice fruity finish.

Only can from Prairie I believe I have ever seen. I like cans and I hope this is the direction this brewer is headed - Cheers!

Definitely, I love Prairie's bottles but cans are a great idea. For some reason, I feel better about justifying and rationalizing cracking a can of 14% stout at any point in the day, compared to a bottle. Plus it looks smaller to the wife.

The ginger does not play nice with the fruit flavors, and the hopping leaves a strong dull bitterness. Unfortunately, for me, a miss from DH...

 

Good Afternoon BA
I've decided to start holding 2 bottles of each home brew batch back for a 6 and 12 month check in. This coffee brown still has a nice flavor and aroma of coffee and chocolate malt at 6 months in the bottle. Bottle conditioned beer is a whole different animal when it come to freshness.
