Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

Doing a side-by-side of melt my brain and Zima later today will report back

 

What a guy, taking a bullet for the good of the cause drinking that Zima! I predict that you'll say these beers are far apart in taste.

 

Its fun mixing beers. My best creation from last year was Short's Cake mixed 50/50 with some hopslam I found in the back of the fridge.

I think I'll try some Short's Cake with Nicie tonight and maybe some Melt My Brain with Short's Cake or Exeter.

 

That sounds horrendous...but you've piqued my interests and I shall try this.

 

Anyone else feeling like Shorts Cake is off this year? Not a lot of strawberry and I'm picking up a strange flavor not present in previous years.

Exeter is awesome though.

 

Nothing noticeable to me. Although, I have noticed in years past that the longer you hold onto it, the more "jammy" strawberry flavors come through.

 

Shortscake... Not at all. Tastes the same to me. I have a 1/6bbl at home and tried in bottles with same result. Strawberry Jam ! less ABV at 4.3 but its the same shortscake to me.

 

Preferred this year to previous years.

Leinenkugel's. Has been mixing their beers at baseball stadium in Wisconsin and Chicago for years. Don't be a Liene.

 

Sorry for the delay, was in the middle of nowhere with limited service and a lot of beer.

They taste nothing alike, Zima was light on flavor and artificial at that. Melt My Brain is full flavored and relatively complex.

I drank all the Melt My Brain, still have to figure out what to do with the other 5 Zima, what is this about Jolly Ranchers?

Nice Nordic pint glass! Just picked one up today. Can't wait to fill it with the Richard in the Dirt crowler I grabbed or Michigantuan. Both are tasting great. Michigantuan could be my favorite fruity IPA I've had. Fruity but still hoppy, very well balanced.

And right up front I gotta say I feel bad for folks not in the Mitten, 'cause this one is staying Michigan only.

Bold flavors of tart fruit, citrus rind and floral hops transition to a sizable bitterness that lingers well into the finish, drying the palate"

Besides name checking two of my favorite (non-Short's) places in the world, I'm stoked to read this announcement. Michigantuan has been one my top-ten yet to try list for a while. Besides Belgian ales, cherry ales are favorite style (thanks for the Kwikreik, it ticked another on the list!). Pretty sure this'll be the first cherry DIPA I've had.

*Those other two places are Moomer's and Cherry Republic. If you haven't been to either (especially Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor), make a point of experiencing some great northern Michiganiana!

 

I swear I have the worst....
I was up there a month ago and Richard had just gone off tap. I gotta hope it stays up for a while cause I've only got 27 more days till I'm there again....

 

The tap list for the Bobcat Bonnie's Party this weekend is looking pretty good. Superfluid & Machu Beechu!
