Dang! Not often I make it in time for the first page. I am trying this beer. Excited to finally try it after seeing it posted by numerous people.

It's tasty. Nice beer for dinking around and doing some chore stuff this afternoon.
    Cheers, BA!

Every time I see that photo I can't decide whether it is more impressive from a stacking perspective or disgusting from a general perspective. I think it is actually both at the same time.

A lot of people (especially on here) talk about having a home bar or a beer/man cave. I do too. It is basically a cabinet in my case. Based on your sink and overall set-up, though, I think it would more accurate to say that you have a bar in your house :grimacing::grinning::sunglasses:

You are correct! Putting a bar in my house was/is wiser and cheaper than driving under the influence.

Stumbled across six-packs of a beer I'd always wanted to try (but never saw in the area) at the local beer store the other day. Having my first one now...

Yep -- it's Anchor Steam Beer. Always really liked the look of Anchor's bottles and wanted to try some of their beers, but the grocery stores around here pretty much stopped carrying them around the time I was first getting into drinking beer (and when they would briefly reappear, they tended to sell out and then never get restocked.) Even the smaller local beer store stopped carrying them at one point. And then, apparently one guy requested that they stock Anchor Steam Beer again... and within a couple weeks they'd already sold three cases of it, so I'm guessing they'll continue to order it in the future!

Anyway, on to the beer. It's a dark orangey color, seems to be very clear as I can see the bubbles rising up inside even without using a flashlight to get a better look. Really nice color to this one. The head of foam on top is just slightly off-white, huge and fluffy as you can see from the picture, and seems to be sticking around pretty much forever -- it's about half the size now as it was when I took the picture, and doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. The smell is mostly malt, with a bit of hoppiness in there (not quite sure how to describe it, it just definitely does come across as a hop smell) and maybe a little yeasty stuff going on in the background? Taste is similar, but with the hoppy flavor coming out just a bit ahead of the malt -- it's a sort of spicy thing, almost reminds me of European hops but not quite. Wonder what variety of hops are used in this, it's an interesting flavor -- as odd as it sounds, I almost want to say it reminds me of celery seed. Like Noble-hop spiciness mixed with celery seed. The malt is kinda coming across as a blend of lightly toasty and yeasty bread. There's just a bit of bitterness on the end. At around a third of the glass left, I'm occasionally noticing a bit of a sweetish, fruity sort of flavor mixed in at the very start of a sip -- almost want to say it's a bit banana-like, like something partway between actual banana and that banana-candy thing I get from some of the sweeter hefeweizens. A really nice blend of sweet, spicy, malty, and bitter going on with this beer, leaning a bit toward the spiciness overall but with all the other elements present enough to notice.

And yep, the foam on top lasted until the very end. The beer is gone but there's still a layer of foam sitting at the bottom of the glass!

Really interesting beer -- also very tasty, and surprisingly refreshing for something with such a dark malty color to it. Glad I finally got to try this one after years of being aware of its existence but never seeing it around here -- and fortunately I picked up the full six-pack instead of just tossing one or two into a mixed pack, so I've still got plenty left!

My next beer in the pale German theme of my day is a new one to me. Damn, clarity in German beer is clearer than anyone else's clarity. Are we clear?

Trying a new to me Swedish IPA. 6.2% abv, 36IBU. Tastes very similar to a pale ale produced by another Swedish craft brewery, Oppigårds: it has a pretty strong caramel malt backbone, some light sweetness and the typical American hop flavors, along with a mild but balancing bitterness. It finishes dry. They (the brewers of this beer, Dala Bryggeri) seem to make it a point to produce balanced easy drinking beers and this beer is certainly that, and for a new upstart brewery it is really well made (if someone would have put this beer in front of me and said it came from Oppigårds, Sweden's largest craft brewery, I wouldn't have questioned them). I don't see myself buying another bottle of it however, I might as well buy a similar beer from Oppigårds, which will be labeled a pale ale and priced lower.

This has aged incredibly well. At nearly 3 years, it's smooth as silk and the alcohol is merely adding to the flavor and complexity. A nice little treat

Still in the cave tidying up, so why not a draw from the Vallejo keg in my clean Meister Brau glass I found at a thrift store a few weeks ago? Old Chicago brewery meets new! This is a good place to be on a hot humid day.
