Agreed. Believe I've suggested this same thing to Mike before Anthony. Pretty easy access right off 57 and 80 interchange. Not to mention a great little shop! I try to stop there every time I go visit family as I literally drive right by it.

This HC Citra is hazy, but it is dank and does have what seems to be some intentional bitterness. Also, the carbonation has been stepped up a notch. I think it's about right where it should be now. I dig it, this might not be the right thread for it though. Certainly worth a try for any Citra heads

Yes, per facebook.... Van Hazen II, 5pm sharp is the tapping. Crowlers to go. Given recent IPA releases, I feel reasonably confident saying this will last through Sunday. They had to of made enough knowing the 4th is right around the corner.

On a side note Van Hazen II (DDH IPA) w/ Citra, Simcoe, and Azacca taps at 5pm on Tuesday, 6/27. This ones really great. Tons of citrus (orange pith and lime), tropical fruit (guava and mango), and dank sticky resin.

I think I was confusing it with SqeezeIt 3... or something else coming out with Galaxy hops. I love Galaxy hops and would make it a point to seek out the beer that it is being used in.

So I opened this yesterday after crushing Squishy Gummy and Snoochie Boochies cans all weekend. Snoochie is really damn close to being in the conversation of being right up there with Trillium offerings.

Looking forward to future releases this summer!

Yep I believe its Squeezit V3 and he started brewing it this week. I saw he just got the shipment of Galaxy hops a few days ago. I too love Galaxy hops and am eager to try it.

It's interesting you mention Snoochie being close to the Trillium quality. I really haven't been digging Snoochie that much, and didn't care for most of Trillium's stuff...perhaps there is something common between them that I haven't been able to figure out as to why I don't like it (but then love Stay Lit, M-43, Mind to Devour and others). I'm guessing I'll never figure out exactly what it is, and will just have to continue to taste & experiment.

I haven't had m-43 or Mind but I can tell you that Stay Lit is very sweet and low bitterness.
Snoochie is more balanced with slight sweetness and moderate bitterness.

So, maybe you like sweet stuff

That could be. I find myself to be quite fickle when it comes to the bitterness. I've had many of these NEIPA's from out east and even some local ones that everyone claims to be so juicy and not bitter at all...but I get a really distinct bitter taste that is typical of what I associate with a citrus rind, and that is off-putting to me. But then there are others that don't have that, and I prefer those.

And just to make it more confusing, I actually like the "traditional" bitterness that comes from the old school IPA's. So, I may just be a pain in the ass to figure out.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I get the same thing. That's when I'm talking about a beer being to green, or raw. That astringent finish should not be there imo. I think it's a brewing flaw to be honest.

Although I don't get that with Snoochie Boochie.

I got it with most early batches of Hailstorm beer, some noon Whistle. Even some Mikerphone beers. Mostly ones that used only the citrus yeast.

Say what you will about Hop Butcher... but I've never got it from those beers

If you get me to start saying certain breweries are flawed that I've found that taste in...I'll be put on the Clown List for sure (crap...I'm already on it??).

Looking back at my posts, I should clarify that I didn't necessarily find that taste in Snoochie - I had kind of lumped that beer in with Trillium just based on being in the group of NEIPA's I didn't care for as much. I think I've got a couple more Snoochie cans, so I'll be cracking one again this week and maybe nail it down a bit more. I just prefer things such as Radio Swan or Stay Lit in FR's lineup.

@croush this might be overkill (but I am a freak who documents everything haha), but have you tried logging each NE IPA you've had and find out the hop bill, yeast strains, and malt used? That's an easy way to get a better understanding of what you like and don't like. Again, overkill I know.

No, and have zero plans to do that. I get that it may lead to a better understanding (although you & I may differ on how "easy" that is), but that seems like squeezing the fun out of tasting different beers to me. I used to do that with wine, and it got to be a bit too much...when I started pursuing beer more, it was to get away from that somewhat (and now try to have the same relaxed approach with wine as well).

Ah, I wonder if that's what I tasted in the beer I had from NW. It was really tasty, but had exactly that, an extremely off-putting astringent finish.

Since we're talking preferences, I prefer low perceived sweetness (low enough that it doesn't come off as sweet), a slight bitterness, and a decent amount of carbonation. The one Trillium beer I had did a nice job with carbonation, which is the only thing that really stood out, to me.

I'm more of a Snoochie Boochies fan than I am Stay Lit, precisely because it's not as sweet. As I've mentioned before, I don't usually like lactose in my IPAs, because especially for the NE style, I find that there's already a somewhat inherent sweetness, so I just need a little bitter to balance it out.

Still really want to try Radio Swan, though.
