I had it on tap and from a bomber recently. The hopsmack on tap was a juice bomb (and better than scorpius imo). The bomber had more bitterness and was not nearly as impressive.

That would make sense. I've seen differences between a TG beer bottled and on draft as well. And I haven't had bottles yet.

Just had a bottle. My advice is to let it warm up! This beer is fantastic!

Yeah I had two bottles of Hopsmack over the weekend, it is more bitter than some other TG beers in that it has noticeable bitterness but it was juicy, aromatic, flavorful. It was good shit.

Last year was Vic Secret, two years ago it was tropical fruit and more melony. Hop bill has been changed up over the years but this year and last year's are similar. Hopsmack also notable for holding up better with time. Not saying hang onto it for 6 months or a year but I cracked a 2015 bottle for the first time after four months and could smell it across the room!

That fall of 2015 Hopsmack was one of my favorite TG beers ever. It was a nice treat after an 18 hour day in the field.

Must just be my taste, I seem to be in the minority not liking Hopskmack. I didn't find it to be juicy at all. Hazy, yes, but very light on aroma and then just an off-putting bitterness, almost vegetal. Oh well, luckily they make plenty of others I do like!

Hmm, I had almost the complete opposite experience with mine. Could smell it from 10 feet away while it was being poured (bottle). Batch variation, I guess

Same here. The aroma jumped out of the bottle when I opened it. I would say it was less "juicy" in flavor than it was in aroma though. I thought the bit of bitterness was quite pleasant.

There was a very large amount of sediment in my bottles, so maybe I got the dregs so to speak

Rarely discussed, often probably the culprit, is whatever else you were eating/doing/feeling that day. Low level background congestion that doesn't register because you can still breathe out your nose? Had something else to eat or drink earlier? Could be so many things.

I'm pretty sure none of these things cause a large amount of sediment in bottles.

Just to be clear, I wasn't referring to the sediment there.

I've been having all sorts of TG beers for years now, and I'm just not a fan of Hopsmack. I've tried it many times, in many situations, and it's always been a bitter, not so flavorful, TG beer. Granted, it's not as bad as Biter, but it's not my favorite. I sort of wish they'd do more Sue variations.

I found Hopsmack to be good, but I won't be buying it again - you can find a good-not-great IPA just about everywhere these days without having to pay a bomber premium. Biter, on the other hand, was bloody awful.

Crazy how palates work. I found Hopsmack to be the best thing they've done in a while. Had a Zeelander the other night and that was pretty good as well.
