Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Anyone who hits up Corridor today, can you post impressions of the new DDH IPA? Cant make it there till next week. Thanks and cheers!

I have a feeling it may be their best. I will let you know in a few hours.

 

I have that strange feeling as well. Could be their best hop profile to date.

Tasting notes with friend for Cosmic Juicebox:

Look: "hazy AF"
Nose: citrusy. I got orange peel garnish (imagine a WI old fashioned) and ripe yellow fruit, he said orange and guava

Taste: big up-front flavor, I get a bit of red fruit punch, like a childhood juicebox. "there might be juice in this". Crisp, clean finish with well-integrated bitterness - "pineapple at the end?" Maybe some acidity.

We had a preview pour of atomic child from Forbidden root before this. So... the moral of the story is that it is a good time to be drinking beer in Chicago.

 

Had a sample before it was on tap from BJ. It was super duper for sure. Thanks again @BJP

 

Definitely my favorite from corridor yet. Very very hazy, awesome color. Smooth throughout and I get a mango/peach finish.

Juice box indeed.

FR and Corridor are putting out one after another!

 

I think they went a bit too far too the juice side. Though soft, I wanted some effervescence as it went down like real ale, which though not bad, makes it go down the tongue more like water than beer. Fans who want juice will be great with this. I'd prefer the balance to be closer to the first Van Hazen. Great flavor nonetheless and another step in the right direction.

 

They must have heard @GuyFawkes because they had Crowlers of CJ prefilled and ready to roll.
The beer itself is awesome. Roger has the body on these NEIPA's down cold. Fruit bomb deluxe. I'm really impressed.
When will Corridor and Forbidden Root do a collaboration?!?!?

I just got a Yeti growler and I printed out the warning label at work today on a label printer. Water and wash resistant. Hit me up if you need one. I'll meet up.

Also I hit up Corridor and had a Cosmic Juicebox and I thought it was their best so far and one of the best I've had from Chicago. Tons of flavor for 6.8% abv. Great mouthfeel.

I loved the 4/6/2017 batch of Stratus, so when I saw a lone 6/29/2017 batch on the shelf, I jumped at the chance to buy. It's like a different beer. What a shame. I haven't been on Beer Advocate in over a week, otherwise I would have read the comments about this last batch and would have stayed away from it. I guess I have to make sure I read BA more often!

Cosmic Juicebox was insane.. the Hop combo is perfect... it's amazing... go get it!!!!!!

 

Was at Corridor yesterday as well. Cosmic Juicebox is my favorite beer from Corridor, surpassing the original Squeezit for me. Thought it is really really great. People who are not fans of lower carbonation may not be super into it. Thought the body was unreal and extremely smooth/creamy. The hop combo is fucking great and aroma is awesome. Extremely juicy. Highly recommended.
I'll be going to Forbidden Root on Sunday to drink some Atomic Childs, can't wait!

 

Ha. Well, my friend and I both enjoyed Cosmic Juicebox a lot, but we also agreed that we may have enjoyed Van Hazen more as well. Would have been nice to taste them side by side.

 

Had a Van Hazen II that was a 2 weeks old and it was delicious so I hope to be hitting Corridor in the next few days for some Cosmic juice. Surprised no one has mentioned the 6/26 release of Son of Juice because that beer is definitely hitting it out of the park for something you can pick up at a Liquor store.

 

@BJP gave me a sneak sample yesterday of atomic child. It’s killer.

 

Going to corridor with kids tonight. Juice box crowlers are a must. What’s else is worth taking home?

 

Hasn't anybody tried these Mikkeller offereings? Seeing them pop up in Chicago...
