Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Been seeing the same thing as well...only really seen Beer Temple at this point.

 

I'm doing the same. Headed there and then the Cubs game. I'll be stocking up on crowlers. I'm sure traffic and crowds will be a non-issue (cough cough).

 

I made my journey this morning from the south suburbs.

Hit Corridor at 10am for a few crowlers of Cosmic Juice Box. I double parked and was in and out in 1 minute flat. They had quite a few pre-filled crowlers.

Next I went to Forbidden Root for a growler of Ghost Tropic and a growler of Atomic Child. In and out in no time at all.

It's going to be a great weekend!

 

Because the review offered more details than "Brah. this beer is insane!"? I forgot all my reviews are contrarian and wrong.....uhoh, oh wait, looks like the thread is broken, someone agreed with preferring Van Hazen....

Unfortunately, Cosmic Juicebox to use the example from the recent Trib article, doesn't tick all three boxes.

 

Cosmic Juice Box is absolutely unreal. Perfect mouth feel for the style, great hop combination, and the taste/smell are top notch. I flirted with the idea of Squeezit possibly unseating Juicy as my favorite NEIPA to come out of the Chicago area, but I can say with certainty that Juice Box definitely does!

Side note: the recent batch of Cats In the Cradle doesn't even come close to the first batch. Does anybody know if this was a double batch? I know Check 1, 2 wasn't as great as a double batch, but this almost doesn't seem like the same beer. I'm not saying it's bad, but the flavor and mouth feel of this batch are completely different.

 

Stopped by Corridor for a pour and two crowlers of Juice Box. God damn is it good. Go check this out guys!

 

Also picked up a few crowlers of cosmic juice earlier. I'm very impressed. I get a super strong juice taste but the bitterness is not lost. Very good balance of the hops and straight juice. This is a wonderful beer. Strongly recommend everyone get over there for a couple of crowlers before they are gone.

 

Think it will last into next week? All their recent releases have lasted at least a full week. Just curious.

 

Sorry, didn't ask how much they have left. I would also guess at least several more days based on past experience with their beers The crowlers I got they had prepoured and it looked like they only had a couple of those left. Don't think that at all means they are running out though, might just be a Saturday thing.

 

i cant reiterate this enough. cosmic juice box is unreal, im loving it.

 

Know this is the wrong thread, since I'm going to be talking about a Berliner, but I did try the Raspberry Blush which is part of this mikkeler can run since it sounded interesting. Very odd combination, raspberry, coffee, berliner but I liked it. A sophisticated summer porch drink. Between this and Evil Twin/Omnipollo Lemonade IPA I've had no shortage of hey it's hot outside beverages.

 

Love me some porch/balcony drinkers! Also, stopped by Beer Temple today in my travels about town and they had maybe two cases of all the Mikkeller beers they posted about both on the floor and in the cooler. Always love seeing the goodies they have there.

Also, sounds like they are hoping the new place is going to be ready by the end of the month but no guarantees. Signage looks fantastic as it's just down the block from the old place.

 

This cosmic juicebox is garnering considerable hype from you boys. Excited to pop the crowler I got this afternoon....will report back.

 

Normally I'm skeptical with hype but Cosmic Juice Box is legit! Well done Corridor!! It's like an amped up Wizard Fight, which I've always liked! Amazing what swapping out the Amarillo for Galaxy can do.

 

Pining the West was pretty decent too. Like a lighter Pliny.

 

Did you really get a growler of atomic child? I was there yesterday afternoon too and they werent filling atomic child into growlers.

 

That's not right. Did they give you a reason?

 

I didn't ask about it when I was there because the board didn't have the growler label next to it, so I know I assumed it wasn't available.

 

Exactly the same here. No growler sign on board and no atomic child written on the chalk board by filling station. So assumed it was just pours and I didn't even ask

 

I just dumped a bottle of Lyrical Gangsta, and the Cats in the Cradle was tough to drink.. Flat in the bottles. I don't think they were ready to sell quite yet. Any other thoughts?
