I'm interested to try it, but I'm not sure if I trust them to actually make a good one

Yeah, that's pretty steep. But hell, when Transient charges that I still usually get a pack or two

Forbidden Root doesn't do crowlers as far as I know.

Transient has a track record of solid offerings in this style though. I don't know man, I was looking forward to this release but I don't know if I can justify $20 for a 4 pack.

I kind of expected it. They charge quite high for the excess Old Order bottles. It seems like any special beer is an arm and a leg.

Their rotational beers have an excellent price point though.

At $20 for a 4 pack of burby beer, I would walk in and demand a refund it if it wasn't satisfactory. You know what you are getting into by now with Chicagoland NEIPAs since they've been perfecting and adjusting for 6+ months, but what are the odds S.O.'s is dialed in on the first attempt?

No crowlers at FR in general, but the howler/growler delivery works well. Cheers!

I liked reading the description of the process on the Solemn Oath website, and they chose a good hop profile, but I'm skeptical mainly because I've only ever had one of their beers, Snaggletooth, and thought it was real mediocre. I probably shouldn't apply that to everything they are doing though, I guess that's not good practice on my part.

I'm in the same boat, however it takes one good attempt at a NEIPA to turn people's perceptions. I will look forward to the usual suspect's reviews on here before deciding whether the SO NEIPA is worth trying as they generally have a good grasp of the scene.

I'm leaving for a 10 day business trip starting this Friday, so the rest of Chicagoland will have an opportunity to finally try some of the NE/DDH/hazy IPAs being brewed by Corridor!

wait wait wait wait wait just a minute. Your telling me I can have FR beer delivered to my house?

Also 16-20$ is a pretty standard price point for NE beers. That being said I would never give 20$ to solem oath on the first try. Pretty middling brewery IMO.

    From
    http://solemnoathbrewery.com/news/strange-old-woods-new-england-ipa-release/

"The result was a beer that was too opaque for our liking, and we decided to fine the beer with our normal silica-based fining."

That part really just makes no sense to me. For NE IPA lovers, some people love the haze and opaqueness, and others just don't care how it looks. So why add a step in there to use finings when your audience doesn't want that?

Not to mention if it that could end up causing a negative effect for the hop character of the beer....(though I'm not sure if that is a real concern?)

Alternatively, why release beer when you don't like how it ends up?
