Agreed. It would be my local go-to.

With GI-Clybourn it was easy to walk in a grab a beer at the bar given the size of it, same with FR. Corridor, it's more of a pick it up and take it home vibe since the bar seating is more limited than the other two.

Yeah man, it wasn't on my radar for a long while (I typically go to the places closer to my neighborhood), and the first time I stopped in, I felt stupid as hell for not having gone sooner. It's a very cool place all around.

Similar experience. Son of Juice surprised me though. I think they're dialing it in.

I will continue to bring them up because I feel they are flying very under the radar due to their location, but if you are ever on the south side visit Horse Thief Hollow. They have finally found their footing in the style and Parallel Universe has been consistently great.

Can you grab cans/bottles to go?

Unfortunately not. They are a brewpub that only does Growlers to go (not even crowlers ughhhh), possibly another hindrance to their popularity.

Honestly, if they had cans or crowlers I'd make the drive on a weekend to grab some & try it.

I can't really justify it for a growler (and I'm not into drinking & driving, AKA slamming a few there and hitting the highway).

Hey Ya'll! I am coming into town this weekend for the PHISH. i have read through a lot of the thread, but just wondering if there are any updates on what I should be looking for in the stores and/or taprooms. Staying near Northerly Island, so I can hit some stores somewhat near there and should have a little time Saturday to venture to a taproom / brewery or two. Any directions beyond what is here or updated is greatly appreciated!!

I totally see your point and I think that's it for a lot of people as well. It's unfortunate, I've had two of my buddies from NYC who tried PU and it reminded them of Other Half (me as well).

Binny's Grand has Gummy Banter as of today and a decent amount. They're close by and will have most beers you'd want to get in town. Gummy banter is your best bet for a NE style in cans.

Forbidden Root is worth a trip to if you have some free time.

I take it it's still on tap then? Or drinking something you picked up earlier this week?

Amen on the malt in Haze!! Haven't heard anyone else say that so I had to respond in agreement. Went to TH a few months ago, got Haze and was severely disappointed due to that.

Bright w/ Citra was the other beer we got, so much better. If you read the TH thread, Bright seems to be one of the beers that a lot of people skip on. SMH.

Out of their regular line up, Bright is my least favorite (although still quite solid). It reminds me almost a bit of the Pipeworks fish series which is something I dont look for out of Tree House beers. I like Haze but not as much as Julius, Green or Alter Ego (or even Sap for that matter). We are talking standard releases here. As for King Julius, Very Green, Doubleganger and Juice Machine, there's nothing even remotely close to those that I've had out of Chicagoland area. Not remotely.

I dont know about that. Many of the regular reseases from Tree House are primarily IPAs, and what many of the things they are being compared to from Forbidden Root, Corridor, Mikerphone, etc are DIPAs, not to mention many of which are not regular releases either.

If people want to start throwing words around like 'better than Tree House' or whatever, then lets talk the 'best' vs 'best', not 'best' vs. regular line-up.

For someone who is skeptical but always curious, what is it that makes these so special? I've read theories about the water they use and whatnot, but is it mostly a feel thing? It seems crazy to me to think of something being much more citra-forward than a beer like DDH PseudoSue, JiL, etc.
