I never really scoffed at the price of an NEIPA 4-pack. I figure they require more time and materials to make, so that's just what they cost.

That being said, Beer Cellar didn't have a price on Reckless Keystroke and after taxes is was just under $24. I believe I muttered, "good lord..." when the guy told me the total - it was damn good though, and I'm glad I was able to get some.

I tried Hop Butcher's Skrap Metal last night, and I really like it. It's got some bitterness in the finish that (in my opinion) the last couple of their releases have lacked (I don't like overly sweet DIPAs), and the hop-forward taste is on point. I recommend it for the people in this thread that like a little bitterness in their IPAs (I know it's not for everyone). It's no Galaxy Bowl, but it's one of my favorites they've released, I think.

I struck out on Strange Old Woods; does anyone know if more is hitting distribution?

This is where competition is going to help the consumer a lot in the next few years as other brewers belt out this style in quality and quantity... Those margins will have to come down as these things become shelf turds- the brewers are not going to be able to afford to have these sit on shelves or on their taps....

The key to budget and pricing for me is variety. Ill splurge on the 16-20$ four packs to stock the fridge but I also buy tuna, lizark king, nvU, ZD, PBR, Miller Lite, ect. I dont know what it is about the NEIPA but i can have 1 or 2 and then my taste buds and desire for that particular style vanishes. So they end up lasting up to a month in my fridge. Plus I think almost all beers need a couple of weeks to clean up in the can but that may just be personal taste. HA especially. My favorite brewery in the city but their cans need at least 2 weeks.

Yup, I'm the same way. I'll typically get a 4-pack of something and say "cool, I'm good for the week" (I average 3-4 beers a week, no more than 1 a day). Then by day 2 I think "hmmm, I don't want to drink this beer 4 times in a row," so I have to buy a second 4-pack of something else.

    Gets expensive.

I'm not drinking NEIPA for body. To me, anyone who is, should just stick to stouts and quads.

IPAs are meant to showcase hops. Not thickness

That beer was too expensive, but it flew. I'm pretty sure that price was pretty universal

I think one of the main aspects and appeals of the NEIPA is a thicker fuller body........

I definitely see both sides of this. Take something like Corridor's NE beers; that kind of grainy, full quality is one of my favorite parts, so I definitely think the body is a part of the magic equation. However, I've had quite a few NE-style beers that had good body and very "muddy" hops (meaning muddled together and indistinguishable), which totally kills the beer to me. Frankly, the main appeal to me is how the style combined with copious hoping really lets the hops shine through clearly.

That part doesn't appeal to me- the more NEIPAs I drink, the thicker fuller body I get....:astonished:

Have you had Eureka? IMO, that's the perfect beach/golf course/etc. session beer. I know it's technically not an IPA, but it sure as hell tastes like a session IPA to me.

I grabbed a few 4-packs of Skrap Metal, the Gummy Vortex release is today, the Giggle Gummy release is tomorrow, I'm pretty sure Stay Gold on Saturday, and Snoochie Boochies on Tuesday.....

I'm going to need some help clearing cans out of my fridge this coming week :worried:

How's this batch of Gummy Vortex? I'll be at Noon Whistle tomorrow so I'll be trying the Giggly Gummy then. Doing my standard I-94 brewery tour with the girlfriend tomorrow on day off: FFF -> More -> Noon Whistle -> Mikerphone. Going to be a nice NE IPA drinking day.

I'll let you know at noon when they open. I'll do my usual, 4-pack allotment and sample glass of what I'm buying.

More and Noon Whistle aren't really close to 90 or 94 at all.

That sounds like a great time though (apart from the traffic).

Yeah, I caught it a bit too late for editing. Knew someone would call me out. Meant to say I-294.

My I-94 brewery tour usually entails FFF -> Half-Acre -> Corridor with another random brewery thrown in there (Dovetail, Haymarket, etc.)
