I didn't get that when I joined RS this year either.

    Same here, email only.

RS is based on availability. HS is invite only. Did you renew your RS membership last year (maybe 2016 RS members received a renewal invitation for 2017?) I joined RS in 2016, and then received the HS invite for 2017. I never received a mailer for RS since I never renewed RS.

Just got a flier in the mail for 2018 RS. The interesting part is 9 included beers next year instead of 10.

Hoarders getting 4 less bottles, RS getting 1 less. Either the bottles they include are more expensive, or they'll include a growler or some other expensive merch? I prefer more bottles, less merch, but people were complaining about all the included growlers over the years, so bruery dropped it and added bottles

That looks like a renewal though. I was a noob

@BruerJoel will we get a chance to evaluate full details of both Reserve and Hoarder before deciding if we want to upgrade?

The details for each group come out September 1st per the invite/renewal mailers. You have til September 30th to order.

Is it safe to assume that the purchase amount factor into a HS invite would be from Jan-Sept and not the full year? I am just curious why renewals start in Sept and not wait until end of year, wouldn't that cease motivation to purchase between Sept - Dec?

If your motivation to purchase is based on the hope of receiving an invitation to spend even more money, rather than because they're releasing beers you want to drink, you may want to reevaluate your life.

I'm RS and haven't received anything in snail mail or email?

Yeah. not my motivation, just trying to understand why renewals in Sept vs Dec. Although you say this, I am pretty sure there are plenty of people that are motivated to get a hoarders invite.

It isn't by $$$ spent btw....not sure why everyone thinks this.

I think it's probably from the name. Hoarders seems to imply that you have/buy a ton of stuff from the Bruery; although, I've read many HS members say that's not the case. But in reality, spending is pretty relative. One person might think spending $80 a month on beer is a lot while others don't even think twice about spending $80 a week. Just my guess. Either way, this thread has helped guide me through my first year in RS and I'm excited to be back next year!

I genuinely enjoy the merch, but it can depend on what it is. Glasses are the one thing I have a massive surplus of (willing to bet a lot of us have this problem ha ha), so I'd love to see some other options. Either way I'd be happy with it and would certainly use the new glass for for some action shots.

Always a lot of speculation on this, but there is no concrete answer as they've never said. Some have said spend on allocations, others say spending in the tasting room, etc. We will likely never know what the exact criteria are, but it's safe to say (as the invitation for HS says) that it's for their biggest supporters. There are a great deal of ways to support them, and not all of them involve money. Could be totally wrong, but wanted to toss that out there.

It's probably a way for The Bruery to get everything taken care of ahead of time. Imagine processing all those renewals/new members a month before everything starts (less than a month with the holidays). Also, from a money standpoint, people spend a lot on traveling and gifts during the end of November and December so people don't feel so bad dropping $$$ on HS/RS in September.

It could also be a completely arbitrary date, that's a thing too.

Also they have make a certain amount of custom glassware, or grrowlers, whateveer merch they give out they have to get made without making too much. It could take 1-2 months to make all those growlers and bottle openers.

Sept is also before the end of the fiscal year...which can help boost the overal budget image when looking for loans(ie early days before terreux)

I am sure there are several factors for doing it in Sept though.

Because the Societies are front loaded / crowd sourcing programs. You buy a set of beers and merchandise well in advance of their delivery. In return, you get additional benefits the following year.

The benefit to Sept renewals is an early capital injection that helps fund operations.

The benefit to the members is outlined in the society benefits.

If you join/renew, you view this as a win-win.

As for needing to wait until Dec my guess is the loss of revenue in Sept, is probably a much bigger hit then a fall off in sales because renewals went out and people are no longer motivated to buy beer. But that's just my speculation.

I forgot to update my address on file so I'm currently stalking my old address, so for those who have already received invites what is the deal on selecting pick up location for next year? Or is that information not available yet?
