As title says, I'll be in Oregon for a wedding this weekend with limited time in Portland, a day in Hood River, and the balance of the long weekend in Government Camp near Mount Hood. Where and what should I be drinking?

In Hood River, pFriem is the "must stop" place in my opinion. Double Mountain is worthy too. Closer to the mountain, hit Solera in Parkdale. One of the more Epic brewpub views in the country, as long as it's a clear day. In Government Camp, Mt. Hood Brewing is probably your only option. It's ok. On the expensive side IIRC, especially for the middling quality of their food and drink.

Charlies is my favorite place to drink in Government Camp. But I have no concept of what it's like in the off season....

It's a little slower, but still plenty of fun. Lots of bored townies and ski bums with nothing to do but day drink and shoot the shit with the handful of tourists who stumble in there.

Just came back from a trip where I also went through all those areas. Agreed that the Portland thread is your best bet, but I'd recommend Great Notion and Cascade as your must visits there. I hear The Commons is great too but I didn't have time to make it.

In Hood River, pFriem was great and it's right down by the waterfront, so you can have a few beers and then check out the river. Double Mountain was also fun. Their pizza is surprisingly good and the beer too.

Agreed that Mt. Hood Brewing is a little expensive, but I enjoyed the beer there after a day of hiking and the burger was also solid. If you like dessert, get the blackberry cobbler (for 2) - delicious.

Hands down Double Mountain's Devil Kreik is a must! Pair it with their margherita pizza for a great meal. Enjoy!

On the way to Hood River, I'd say Thunder Island in Cascade Locks is a must stop. Gorgeous view and great beers and food. Tap list can be rather small sometimes, but worth the pit stop.

In Portland, Great Notion in NE, and I'll throw out a wild card that I just went to in St. John's, Occidental Brewing.

    Cheers!
