What's the hold up with DKML distribution in NW Ohio? Any info on release date in NW Ohio?

According to the rep at the KBS release that I attended, it is as I stated above, hence it takes 3ish years for product creation because:

KBS in BA barrels for 1 year
Barrels holding KBS go to Maple Syrup for 7 months.
Barrels emptied and go back to Founders, and filled with CBS for 1 year.

Hence approx. 3 years from start to end.

Not saying the rep could not have been wrong. Just reporting what he told me. He answered this as a result of asking if CBS was coming out this year, and showing that it has been approx 3 years since last release, hence...timing is right for December release, even if he could not say officially that it would be.

Interesting. I wonder why they don't say that on the labels, that would be a selling point. I would love to have KBS barrel maple syrup.

Awesomeness in a glass. Incredibly smooth. Way too drinkable.

We finally got some in today at work. Took a bottle home. Wow. Didn't expect that! It's taken me a bit to finish and I'm surprised at how much better it's gotten as it's warmed up.

Count me in the "didn't like it" camp. I don't really enjoy bourbon, or most whiskeys for that matter so I can say I'm not surprised. I enjoy malt liquor now and again but the heat of the high abv (11% abv is high even by malt liquor standards) plus the vanilla-ish bourbon barrel flavor just didn't do it for me. I'd just rather drink bourbon and a side beer (my go-to if you're shooting whiskey, which is extremely rare). That's all just my personal palate issues though and I can't blame people for loving this. All that being said I didn't feel like I wasted my money and I'm glad I tried it.

Had it yesterday, and it was big bourbon and boozy, features I typically like. But I thought the alcohol was still hot and overall there was a phenolic linger. I need to get some more and set aside to age - wonder what 6 months to a year of rest would do for this big, bad boy?

Drinking this bad boy now. Damn it's hot but there are some interesting flavors going on one sip at a time. Not sure if I'll spring for a four pack or not but the experience has been positive. Maybe another single.

DKML, has that been deciphered yet? My guess was double kicker malt liquor since its barreled and such. I liked it, the ml corn and the bourbon mash are related of course, curious to see how one rolls after 4 or 5 yrs

I still want to try this but don't think that I want a 4 pack, keeping an eye out for singles.

If you can still find it, go ahead and grab a 4 pack. I grabbed a single. Was much better than I expected and now I'm wishing i bought more (can't find it at my usual places now).

To my taste, it tasted like a boozier Curmudgeon with added/ stronger notes of oak, vanilla and bourbon (I realize that's a little redundant. I'd expect oak and vanilla in bourbon). A little hot, but not overbearing. Quite tasty.

    A single is a good move, glad I didn't buy a pack.

There is a ton in my area still, I noticed that some were bottled not that long ago either. I'm on the fence, most beers I have never had before I don't mind grabbing a 4 or a 6 pack to try it but big, experimental beers like this can be so hit or miss with me. Granted, a beer like this will probably age well so I could keep some on hand for a while if I don't love it but...
