We were in San Francisco this spring. Our 20 year old daughter was with us. She was not allowed to enter a brewery if they did not serve food. Is this the case in San Diego as well? Is it a California thing? Or a local thing for San Fran? Thanks in advance!!

Different breweries have different policies - some are all ages, some are 21+ only, some allow small children but not older children/teenagers. It would be optimal to make a list of the breweries you plan to visit and consult their websites/social media to determine their specific policies.

For a very short list, basically only the ones I know or have overheard when others were asking...

Ballast Points - yes, but most are restaurants anyways
Alesmith - yes, but unless a football/baseball game is on the tv in the dugout area your daughter better enjoy coloring since they only have a play area for the quite young (although coloring is awesome)
Modern Times - nope, only the (I think) 8 and under is allowed in. Basically if you are old enough to have an ID but not old enough to drink, you won't be allowed in
Stone locations - yes, but most are restaurants anyways

At the places she would be allowed in, sitting at the bar itself is still a nogo. Some may look the other way, but it is best to just sit at a table away from the bar.

Otherwise, what Xul said...consult the websites and such of places you intend to visit.
